Managing Director, Global Ocean Product

To plan, organize and control operational activities to ensure a high standard of service, quality, growth and increased profitability.

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the global ocean carrier freight strategy aligned with global product objectives.
  • Ensure consistent operational standards
  • Implement best in class procedures for gateway operations and consolidation programs.

Commercial & Business Development

  • Drive revenue growth, gross profit, and market share for the ocean carrier freight product.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with ocean carrier lines, partners, and charter operators.
  • Support large customer negotiations and key account development.

Capacity & Procurement Management

  • Lead Global ocean carrier line procurement strategy, including block space agreements and long-term contracts.
  • Oversee charter strategy and special cargo solutions.
  • Manage ocean carrier line performance, service quality, and commercial terms.

Financial & Compliance

  • Own the Global P&L for the ocean carrier freight product.
  • Manage yield optimization, cost control, and margin improvement initiatives.
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and performance tracking frameworks.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulations, security requirements, and customs standards.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • 10+ years' experience in international freight forwarding or ocean carrier cargo logistics including significant experience in ocean carrier freight product management, procurement and P&L ownership.
  • Proven track record managing global or multi-country operations in a global logistics network.
  • Strong knowledge of ocean carrier line capacity management, pricing, and trade lane dynamics.
  • Ocean carrier line procurement & trade lane management experience.
  • Proven success with commercial negotiation.
  • Strategic and cross-cultural leadership while affecting change. 
  • Bachelors Degree/Equivalent

Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have strong procurement experience, people management, sales management, presentation skills, and Excel and data management skills.

Pay Transparency:

Pay: $13,169.66-$27,656.28 per month dependent on market of selected candidate.

Additional Details: This position will be remote. Candidates in any location in the US can be considered.

In California, the compensation listed reflects the range or rate of pay reasonably expected for this posted position upon hire. In New Jersey, any compensable Security and Walk time will be paid to non-exempt/hourly employees at the state minimum wage.
