Responsibilities
- The pharmacy technician I, under the supervision of a pharmacist, will assist in the technical, non-clinical aspects of preparing medications for dispensing and assist in pharmacy operations. Has the ability to participate as a member of a team with reliability and punctuality. Does related work, as required.
- Complete all onboarding, training, and annual competencies to meet regulatory agencies and organizational requirements.
- Trained in the compounding of non-sterile medications in accordance with USP 795 and other regulatory agencies and organizational policies.
- Accurately restock and replenish the pharmacy with inventory from orders as well as medications received from returns from the floor or automated dispensing machines.
- Maintain the pharmacy in a neat, organized, and clean manner, restocking areas with supplies as needed.
- Ensure all expired, damaged, or compromised medication in the pharmacy, automated machines, and floor stock are removed and segregated from active inventory.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of activities in accordance with policy, and file appropriate documentation records in a neat and retrievable manner.
- Assist in training of newly hired pharmacy technicians.
- Prepare sterile intravenous admixtures aseptically and in accordance with USP 797/800, State Board of Pharmacy regulations, and organizational policies.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- High School graduate or GED.
- Active Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy, if required by the state of employment.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- 1 year of previous hospital pharmacy technician experience.
- National Certification (CPhT) (may be required by the state of employment).
- Current BLS.
