POSITION SUMMARY The Mobile Service Technician will be responsible for inspection, servicing, repairing and general maintenance of county fleet vehicles and equipment located in various shops and locations across the Los Angeles County area. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform skilled repair and maintenance on a variety of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment such as, trucks, cars, 4x4 off-road vehicles, forklifts, cranes, street sweeper, and others
- Performs automotive advance skill level III, performs vehicles
- Preventive Maintenance, troubleshoots electrical, ignition, fuel injection system, charging and air conditioning system
- Performs inspection and repairs of exhaust system, brake system; master cylinder, rotors, and brake-pads
- Performs inspection for suspension components: alignment, and tires replacement
- Replace bearing, axle seals, brake master cylinders, resurfacing brake drums and rotors
- Check/replace fluids, check lights and other electrical system components
- Disassemble components and inspects parts for wear
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions to all other systems
- Overhaul gasoline and diesel engines
- Repair and maintains hydraulic systems
- Clean, sweep, mop, take trash out working bays, hallways, and assigned areas
- Submit daily work progress reports
- Drive company vehicle and maintain daily usage log in accordance with company requirements and police
- Report to various regional locations as required
- Other duties as assigned
- Work is typically based in a busy service center environment and subject to frequent interruptions.Vehicles located across Los Angeles County facilities. Frequent work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required, including heat, cold and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by established Company Safety Standards. Normal work hours are in two shifts, Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm however some extended or weekend hours may also be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years off road automotive and diesel repair experience
- Must complete county required Live Scan
- Valid California Class C Driver's License (Preferred A or B)
- Must be willing to obtain one (1) of the following 9 ASE Certifications within three (3) months of hire: Engine Repair (Automobile Tests), Manual Drive Train and Axles (Automobile Tests), Suspension and Steering (Automobile Tests), Brakes (Automobile Tests), Auto Maintenance and Light Repair (General Service Test), Drive Train (Medium/Heavy Trucks), Brakes (Medium/Heavy Trucks), Suspension and Steering (Medium/Heavy Trucks) and Preventative Maintenance and Inspections (Medium/Heavy Trucks)
- Must have own toolbox, tools, scanners, and troubleshooting equipment
- Proficiency with Computer software (M5 operating systems)
- Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
- Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
- Preferred Vocational or trade tech certification in Diesel or Automotive Mechanics
- Must be able to lift, lower, carry, push or move objects up to 100 lbs. Various tasks may require intermittent standing or prolonged sitting, and the ability to walk, reach, kneel, crouch and handle work related supplies and tools.
