Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the department of Pharmacology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator of the Martinez Zamudio laboratory, performs and assists with technical laboratory procedures and computational analysis of ongoing research projects focusing on the function of transcription factor (TF) networks in mediating cell fate transitions at the early stages of oncogenic transformation as well as during aging of the immune system. Assists in the set-up, and conducting experiments as required.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Assists in packing, unpacking, storing and classification of lab supplies and specimens.
  • May give suitable instructions to Laboratory Assistants, Service Workers and other non-professional workers and monitors the performance of their work.
  • Performs standard laboratory procedures involved in making required tests and analyses.
  • As directed, performs the computational analysis of bulk and single-cell multiomic datasets; develops computational pipelines for the statistical analysis of high-throughput data involving gene expression, chromatin accessibility, epigenomic and proteomic data obtained from various transitional senescence states that are generated within the laboratory.
  • Maintains and updates the computational resources assigned to the laboratory within the University's high-performance computing clusters, including updating of core libraries and incorporation of new computational tools, as directed.
  • Assists post-doctoral and pre-doctoral staff within the laboratory with statistical analyses of experimental data. Assists in preparing culture media, reagents, stains and stock solutions. Assists with experimentation and research activities.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • An associate's degree in a relevant science is required.
  • Experience supporting the analysis of suites for single-cell and bulk high throughput sequencing data, including Scanpy, Seurat, Signac, DESeq2, limma, WGCNA, as well as standard preprocessing tools, including Bowtie2, Cutadapt, Samtools, and Deeptools.
