HealthPartners is looking to hire a Medical Secretary to join our Community Based Palliative Care team! Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day.

Position Summary:

The Medical Secretary provides administrative and secretarial support to the department, management, and staff while helping ensure the day-to-day operations run smoothly. This role also supports the delivery of care to patients receiving Community Based Palliative Care services.

The position involves a variety of responsibilities, including managing incoming calls and connecting patients and families with the appropriate clinical staff, assisting with staffing schedules, supporting employee and learner onboarding, coordinating meetings and calendars, welcoming staff members, and handling the faxing and mailing of documents.

A large part of the role involves supporting patients and families who call looking for assistance from the Community Based Palliative Care team. The Medical Secretary serves as an important first point of contact, helping callers feel heard and supported while connecting them with the triage nursing staff who can best address their needs.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am- 5pm. 3 days onsite at either Methodist Hospital Campus or Regions Hospital Campus based on need, 2 days work from home.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Proficient in word processing and office procedures.
  • Working knowledge of office practices and protocol.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, at times, to meet deadlines and last-minute assignments.
  • Must be detail oriented, well organized, and able to keep confidentiality.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
  • One-year post secondary college
  • Previous experience in a medical setting
  • Previous secretarial experience
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of medical terminology and Medicare is beneficial.
  • Personal computer, fax, photocopier, printers, etc.
