What is aRespiratory Care Trainee?

Itisan employee of a health care facility who is enrolled in the clinicalportionof a COARC-accredited respiratory care educational program.

RT students aregenerally eligibleto apply for the Trainee license (TR) with the State of Maine at the start of their senior year (final year)

Trainees may perform services under the on-site supervision of a licensed respiratory care practitioner.

Summary:

The Trainee - Respiratory Care Practitioner works under the direction of Respiratory leadership and the direct supervision of a licensed Respiratory Therapist. Performs respiratory care procedures within the scope of a Maine Respiratory Care Trainee license while enrolled in the second year of a CoARC- accredited Respiratory Care educational program.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Active enrollment in a Respiratory Therapy program and pursing credentials which will qualify for Licensure required.
  2. License/Certifications: State of Maine Licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner Trainee. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
  3. Experience: Completion of 300-500 hours of clinical hours preferred.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: N/A

The pay for this position is $25.24 per hour.

Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
