Salary Range: $46,000 - $56,000

Position Summary
The Department Administrative Specialist assists the Department Chairperson by overseeing, implementing, and following through on a number of assigned tasks. The Specialist assists the Chair in the administrative aspects of full-time and adjunct faculty hiring, as well as promotion and tenure. The Administrative Specialist is responsible for all administrative tasks associated with scheduling undergraduate lectures and laboratories each semester, as well as graduate course offerings at the Main and Ambler Campuses. The Specialist prepares all faculty teaching schedules for the Chairperson each semester, reviews the master schedule, and completes all section updates and course inventory forms. The Specialist also assumes primary responsibility for planning and implementing specific projects.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Details
* This position requires a background check for PII/Cash Handling responsibilities.

Required Education and Experience
* At least three years of experience as an administrative assistant or related administrative experience are required.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience
* Experience in an academic or higher education environment is preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Strong organizational skills, including the ability to maintain an organized workplace and effectively manage files, records, schedules, and administrative workflows
* Ability to pay close attention to detail, work independently with little supervision, and maintain confidentiality of student records
* Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of students, staff, and faculty

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote) - the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
