Overview The Warehouse Crane Truck Driver/Mechanic completes heavy equipment transports, primarily in the Midwest region, using inventory software to maintain accurate records of transports. Additionally, this position works in Truck Service as required, refurbishing, servicing and maintaining equipment, troubleshooting vehicle and equipment issues and performing welding and fabrication work. - Lift and transport heavy equipment and products in a crane truck, semi, or similar multi-axle vehicle as required
- Load and unload products at location, always maintaining all service standards
- Maintain required paperwork and logs of all assigned transports, entering data into the system for accurate tracking
- Maintain truck and equipment in a neat and clean condition
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any truck safety issues immediately to supervisor
- Communicate any issues as they relate to safety or efficiencies to supervisor for both trucks and equipment
- Operate vehicle safely, adhering to all safety standards and procedures, according to policies and guidelines set forth by law or by MFA Oil Company
- When not transporting heavy equipment or vehicles, assist in the Truck Service area filling in for mechanics as required. These duties include but are not limited to:
- Refurbish company truck tanks and service beds for installation on chassis
- Prepare company vehicles for installation of tanks
- Service and maintain company equipment
- Welding and fabrication work on vehicles, tanks, and service beds
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair trucks and equipment issues as assigned
- Keep supervisor informed of any problems and/or any issues that need attention
- Develop and maintain knowledge about all parts, products and services offered by MFA Oil and an understanding of technical work documents as related to Truck Service and products
- All MFA Oil employees are expected to know and adhere to company and position specific policies and procedures. While this job description contains the primary duties of the position, employees may be expected to perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Training and/or experience in truck maintenance
- Experience with and ability to use a wide range of automotive repair tools
- Ability and willingness to obtain a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) with tanker, HAZMAT, and air brake endorsements within the first 90 days of employment and maintain all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements
- Ability to safely operate automatic and manual transmission trucks
- Basic mathematical skills
- Must have computer knowledge and skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
- Requires physical strength and dexterity to walk, stand, bend, climb, reach, stoop, twist and lift/carry 100 pounds
- Vision, hearing, speech, and ability to detect odors are essential
- Job requires contact with hazardous materials, driving and working in adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to work scheduled overtime and be available for emergency overtime when the need arises by responding to overtime call outs before and after standard scheduled hours of work.
- Maintain a safe driving record
- Overnight travel as needed, up to 20%
- Ability to spend 6-9 hours on your feet at a time
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language to communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervisors
- 21 years of age or older
- Must meet DOT and Company requirements, including successful pre-employment background and MVR check, drug test, and road test
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
