Job Description

Position Summary: The EHS Specialist leads the development, execution, and continuous improvement of site-wide safety and occupational health programs. Reporting directly to site General Manager, working closely with the CFW Group Sr EHS Manager, this role is dedicated to eliminating workplace hazards, driving proactive risk management, and fostering a strong, zero-incident safety culture across all manufacturing operations. Additionally, this role will serve as the site Facility Compliance Officer (FCO) working closely with the Division Compliance Manager (DCM) for all export compliance related matters.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Program Development & Execution:Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive occupational safety and health policies in full compliance with OSHA, state, and federal standards.
  • Hazard Identification & Mitigation:Lead risk assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), and root-cause incident investigations; establish tracking mechanisms to prioritize and resolve safety action items.
  • Safety Culture & Change Management:Serve as an on-the-floor champion for behavioral safety, driving employee engagement and facilitating cross-functional change management initiatives.
  • Operational Partnership:Collaborate closely with plant leadership, production supervisors, and maintenance teams to integrate safety best practices into everyday manufacturing workflows.
  • Committee Leadership:Lead and facilitate the site Safety Committee, coordinating resources and tracking the closure of identified safety and industrial hygiene projects.
  • Environmental & Compliance Reporting:Support environmental compliance, auditing, and regulatory reporting requirements for the facility.
  • Training & Subject-Matter Expertise:Develop and deliver interactive safety training programs; maintain up-to-date expertise in regulatory standards, industrial hygiene, and ergonomics.
  • Vendor & Consultant Oversight:Manage third-party safety, industrial hygiene, and occupational health consultants to ensure high-quality service delivery within budgetary targets.
  • Emergency Response: Support emergency response, severe-weather preparation, utility interruptions, security incidents, and business-continuity activities.
  • Site FCO (trade compliance officer): Serve as the site FCO for all export compliance activities, coordinating training, implementing site compliance expectations, etc.
  • License Requirements: Determine export classification and identify license requirements.
  • License Applications: Collaborate with customer-facing functional areas to ensure appropriate export authorizations are in place, or that all required documentation is obtained to support export license applications.
  • Export Procedures: Ensure consistent adherence to export procedures across the organization.
  • Site Risk Assessments: Advise General Manager/upper management of trade compliance aspects and risks of proposed business decisions. Perform internal verifications of trade compliance documentation and practices. Support the preparation of reports and audits related to trade compliance activities.
  • Audit Support: Support the preparation of reports and audits related to trade compliance activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Ability to understand and follow visitor management, incident escalation, and follow issues through completion in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication, customer service, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read basic scopes of work, quotations, invoices, drawings, and service agreements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications such as Office, Teams, etc.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and coordinate across departments and shifts.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify potential compliance issues.

Experience & Education:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience:1-3+ years of safety, industrial hygiene, or EHS experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ITAR, EAR and other export/import regulations a plus.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid foundation in OSHA regulations, hazard communication, LOTO, machine guarding, and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards.
  • Core Competencies: Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills, with a proven ability to influence teams and drive accountability across all organizational levels.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Routine presence on the active manufacturing floor, requiring standard PPE (metatarsal steel-toed boots, eye/hearing protection, respirators when applicable).
  • Ability to climb stairs, walk across plant buildings, and perform safety audits in industrial manufacturing settings.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $70304 to $78500 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 160 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
