Your Job Georgia-Pacific is seeking an aspiring Electrical Controls Engineer to join our Capital Projects & Engineering, Machine Controls team in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This role is designed for students graduating in Spring 2027. In this role, you will apply your technical knowledge to help develop and deliver large capital projects, obsolescence upgrades, and safety risk reduction initiatives across many of our largest manufacturing facilities. Our Team The Georgia-Pacific Projects and Engineering Team consists of about 400 individuals across the United States. We are engineers, project managers, subject matter experts, and designers working with our 130 manufacturing facilities to achieve one team, one vision, one result. The Machine Controls team focuses on integrating electrical, discrete controls, automation, safety, and data. We partner to develop, design, and implement projects, technology platforms, and electrical and controls engineering solutions that enable GP Manufacturing to be the best. What You Will Do Assist with the design, implementation, and startup of capital and expense projects, working closely with internal and external partners Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC, HMI, and process control applications to improve safety, quality, and productivity Integrate equipment and collect process data to unlock opportunities for reliability and operational improvements Utilize and improve standards and specifications for design and construction of control systems, electrical power distribution, instrumentation, and automation Validate machine control systems in support of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements Partner with operators, technicians, and engineers to develop sustainable solutions to recurring issues, increasing equipment uptime and design efficiency. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline with an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2027 Eligible for full-time employment in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and spend time in plant operations areas Able to travel up to 50% of the time depending on the project What Will Put You Ahead Internship, co-op, research, or project experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or engineering environment Exposure to PLCs, HMIs, industrial controls, automation, instrumentation, safety, motion, or power distribution systems Familiarity with Rockwell Automation, Siemens, DCS, SCADA, robotics, or related control platforms Experience with electrical and control systems projects including design, codes, construction, programming, commissioning, or troubleshooting. Leadership experience through student organizations, engineering competitions, athletics, military service, or other extracurricular activities Interest in pursuing a long-term engineering career within a projects organization and supporting multi-site manufacturing operations At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
