Senior Litigation Paralegal

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Paralegal to join our litigation team. This career-track position is ideal for a highly skilled legal professional with significant experience supporting complex litigation matters in large law firms or specialized litigation practices. The successful candidate will serve as a lead paralegal on large and sophisticated cases, providing litigation support from case intake through trial or arbitration. This role also offers opportunities to mentor junior paralegals and contribute to the development of best practices and efficient case management processes.
Key Responsibilities
Litigation Case Management
- Manage all aspects of litigation support, including case intake, file management, discovery, trial preparation, and post-trial activities.
- Maintain and organize case files, both electronic and physical, ensuring efficient retrieval and accessibility.
- Implement and maintain calendaring systems to track court deadlines, filings, hearings, and other critical dates.
- Establish and improve document management procedures to support case teams.
Discovery & Trial Support
- Lead discovery efforts, including document collection, review coordination, production tracking, and witness preparation.
- Prepare for and attend trials, arbitrations, hearings, and depositions.
- Coordinate trial and arbitration logistics, including workspace arrangements, vendor management, technology setup, and remote office support.
- Assist attorneys with exhibit preparation, trial notebooks, witness files, and courtroom support.
Legal Research & Document Preparation
- Draft, review, and analyze routine legal documents under attorney supervision.
- Conduct legal and factual research using electronic research platforms.
- Perform cite-checking and Bluebook citation review.
- Prepare and manage court filings, including electronic filings with courts and administrative agencies.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Coordinate and oversee the work of junior paralegals and support staff on complex matters.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and training on litigation procedures and best practices.
- Serve as a liaison between attorneys and support teams to ensure litigation support services meet case needs.
- Build and maintain productive working relationships across internal and external teams.
External Coordination
- Communicate with courts, government agencies, expert witnesses, vendors, corporate representatives, co-counsel, and other external stakeholders as needed.
- Manage relationships with legal service providers and litigation support vendors.
- Coordinate activities required to support litigation and arbitration proceedings.
Professional Development
- Continuously develop legal and technical skills to support evolving litigation practices and technologies.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 5 years of litigation paralegal experience within an Am Law 100 firm or specialized litigation practice.
- Experience supporting all phases of litigation, including intake, discovery, motion practice, trial, and post-trial activities.
- Experience preparing for and attending trials, arbitrations, hearings, and depositions.
- Experience managing court and agency filings, including electronic filing systems.
- Proficiency with Bluebook citation rules and legal cite-checking.
- Experience using e-discovery platforms such as Relativity, Nuix Discover, or similar tools.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat in a legal environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, and accountability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in both leadership and support roles.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Willingness to work overtime and travel as required.
Preferred
- Paralegal certificate from an accredited program.
- Experience with litigation support software such as LiveNote, CaseMap, or similar platforms.
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior legal support professionals.
