The APeX Cadence team falls under the Health IT department, which is responsible for the maintenance and expansion of UCSF's electronic health record (Epic) and related technologies. The team supports Epic Cadence, Referrals and Authorizations, and MyChart Scheduling applications and workflows. The APeX Cadence Analyst applies acquired skills and professional clinical applications concepts to small to medium-sized projects of moderate scope and operates independently within a defined scope of responsibilities. The APeX Cadence Analyst position will report directly to the APeX Cadence Team Lead/Supervisor and up through the Patient Access Applications Manager.

Epic Cadence certification is required. Epic Referrals and Authorizations certification and MyChart certification must be achieved within 12 months of hire.

Department Overview

Health IT is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and expansion of the clinical and business applications supporting UCSF Health hospitals, practices, affiliates, and community partners. This includes the electronic health record, Epic, also known as APeX (Advancing Patient-Centered Excellence), which supports clinical, patient access, revenue cycle, and operational functions across UCSF Health and its affiliates.

Health IT partners with clinical and business operations to support, optimize, and implement technology solutions that enable patient care, access, and health system operations.

yes Designs, implements, debugs and evaluates moderately complex clinical software, hardware and/or operating systems..

yes Contributes to moderately complex projects to analyze clinical workflows and create and define integrated clinical technology solutions. Organizes elements to support workflows and documentation requirements. Makes suggestions for improvements in workflows.

yes Collaborates with clinical system users to implement new releases and system upgrades. Assists in the development of business strategies and improvements in operational processes. Establishes scope and requirements for initiatives.

yes Participates in the development of new projects of moderate scope and complexity. Performs systems analysis, planning and preparation, coding, testing, implementation and client/vendor coordination.

yes Participates in user training in clinical software, hardware, and/or operating systems of limited complexity. Develops training tools and user aids.

yes Troubleshoots and documents moderately-complex issues with clinical software, hardware and / or operating systems. Performs root cause analysis, informs management and takes action. Coordinates service and support between clinical engineering, IT, networks, and outside vendors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
  • Two years of relevant work experience
  • Epic Cadence certification
  • Referrals and Authorizations certification must be achieved within 12 months of hire
  • MyChart certification must be achieved within 12 months of hire
  • Working knowledge of clinical applications systems and functions, including development, implementation, user support, maintenance, and system testing and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose problems and develop multiple options for effective and timely resolution of issues and problems.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer-service skills to collaborate productively on a team and to provide training and support to clinical providers and staff.
  • Detail-oriented, with demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, set schedules, and complete projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communications, with the ability to convey technical information to clinical users in a clear and concise manner.
  • Working knowledge of departmental systems and procedures for documentation and reporting, with the ability to perform tests, and to analyze, and interpret relevant data.
  • Ability to work with senior staff and managers, serving as a technical resource and providing advice and counsel on issues of functionality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, policy, and performance.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.
