Job Description

Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a detail-oriented Database Administrator to join the Unclassified Systems Infrastructure (USI) Information Technology (IT) team. In this role, you will support the design, integration, administration, and lifecycle management of various database technologies within our IT environment. You will be part of a team of skilled IT professionals who partner with engineers to maintain the network infrastructure that supports the design, development, and testing of naval nuclear propulsion instrumentation and control systems for the U.S. Navy. Additionally, this role will contribute to the ongoing expansion of our IT environment and the integration of new technologies that advance our organization's digital transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:
* Leads the implementation and integration of database infrastructure solutions, including user-facing and backend systems, and oversees all related hardware and software components.
* Supports recurring maintenance of the deployed database infrastructure, including patching, implementation of new Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and other required upgrades.
* Provides technical support for issues related to the database infrastructure and system configurations.
* Leads the setup and configuration of new database architectures to support the needs of a diverse user community.
* Provides user support for application-specific customizations and other database-related solutions.
* Collaborates with key stakeholders, including shipyards, Naval Reactors, BPMI, and cross-department partners, to support the continued growth and expansion of the IT environment.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Skills

* Familiarity with Oracle, SQL Server, Windows Server, and/or Red Hat Server technologies.
* Experience supporting databases in a Windows and/or Linux (RHEL) server environment.
* Familiarity with automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, or similar) for database tasks.
* Experience working with application development teams and integrating databases with enterprise applications.
* Knowledge of STIGs, security hardening, or operating in regulated or highly controlled IT environments.
* Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple locations.

Pay Range
$117,900.00 - $184,300.00 annually

Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
