Frontend Software Engineer, Vehicle Test Data Platforms

Tesla Motors, Inc.
120,000 - 300,000 USD
paid holidays, flex time, 401(k)
United States, California, Fremont
Aug 26, 2026
What to Expect
Tesla's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy depends on the quality of
the internal tools our engineering teams use every day. We are looking for a mid-level Frontend
Software Engineer to own the frontend of an internal application used by vehicle engineering
teams to capture, review, and work with structured data.

You will join the application's tech lead on a small, high-leverage team. This is a frontend role: you
will design and build the shared UI layer, the data-dense screens engineers use daily, and the
patterns that keep new work consistent. You will work directly alongside vehicle engineers,
including domain experts who also contribute to the product.

What You'll Do
  • Own and grow the shared frontend layer (components, hooks, and patterns) so new screens are composed from common building blocks rather than copied from the last feature
  • Build data-dense interfaces: complex forms, tables, and visualization that stay clear and reliable as the product grows
  • Make the default path fast and consistent, with sound state management and fewer oneoR approaches
  • Collaborate with vehicle engineers and raise the quality of existing UI through review and shared patterns, without treating unfamiliar code as something to replace

What You'll Bring
  • Strong React and TypeScript fundamentals, including production experience with Next.js
  • A track record of writing robust, maintainable frontend code in a production codebase
  • Experience building data-dense interfaces (complex forms, tables, or visualization)
  • Experience designing or maintaining a design system, component library, or shared frontend code that other engineers used
  • Experience with TanStack Query or an equivalent modern data-fetching library
  • Experience with the Next.js App Router
  • Familiarity with data adhering to the SAE J211 standard is a plus
