Part-Time Adult Education Advisor
Hourly Rate: $25.87
This position is an on-campus, part-time, non-exempt, up to 19 hours per week appointment based in Champaign, Illinois.

The part-time Adult Education Advisor will oversee the intake and assessment process and place students in appropriate classes. Advisors work with the Associate Director to establish and implement recruitment and retention strategies. This position is responsible for assisting students in overcoming personal and social barriers as they work towards career and educational goals.
The Advisor is an hourly appointment on a schedule established by the Associate Director of Adult Education. Some evening hours are required. The position involves exposure to confidential information and records. Often, minimal supervision is provided; the Advisor must be able to work independently, collaboratively, and accurately to prioritize tasks and responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions:
- Recruit, orient, and register new students.
- Assess student skill level and enroll in appropriate course.
- Provide retention and follow-up of current and former students.
- Collaborate with partner agencies to provide support services as needed for identified students: career assessment, mentoring, advising, and linkages to other resources.
- Track student acquisition of support services
- Assist with tracking and reporting of student progress toward goal completion and highlighting student success stories.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of experience;
OR
a Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of experience;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and related work experience. - Experience working with adult learners and non-traditional students.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including speaking in front of large and small groups, ability to listen effectively and respond accordingly.
- Demonstrated competence working with a diverse population.
- Prospective new hires will successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check with fingerprinting. The background check review includes, but is not limited to, exclusionary offenses per the Illinois School Code and Title IV of the Higher Education Act.
