WHAT YOU'LL DO The Contract Administrator III is responsible for the accurate preparation, solicitation, negotiation, award, and commercial management of contracts in support of maintaining, expanding, and modernizing our natural gas infrastructure in service to our customers. From initiation of sourcing events through contract closeout, this role will focus on contract development up to contract execution for professional consulting services, software solutions, software as a service (hosted services), non-disclosure agreements, license agreements, architect & engineering services, routine and major construction services, and major engineered equipment purchases. Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Conducts pre-procurement strategy planning to identify the best contracting method(s) for - engineered equipment, engineering services, and construction contracts, required to satisfy business requirements, while safeguarding corporate interests. 20%
- Assists and advises the project team during the preparation of technical specifications and/or scopes of work by reviewing business requirements against areas of contractual risk. Performs due diligence of suppliers to confirm the technical and commercial ability to successfully and safely execute contract requirements. 20%
- Prepares appropriate contract pro-formats (including general terms and conditions and commercial terms) for bid solicitation and works as the team liaison with Legal and Risk Management. 20%
- Develops and leads the bid evaluation process by coordinating the commercial evaluation with the technical evaluation. Prepares the award recommendation, formalizes final agreements, and coordinates proper execution. 10%
- Provides contract administration support and supplier relationship management during contractor's performance, including negotiating change orders, handling claims and disputes resolution, reviewing invoices for compliance with contract terms, monitoring for compliance with contractor lien laws, and preparing contract close-out documents. 10%
- Develops and maintains knowledge of local, regional, or national business trends, risk assumption, management issues, and applicable regulatory and legal constraints and requirements. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and seminars, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional organizations. 10%
- Develops and seeks continuous improvement opportunities in productivity and reduction of procurement costs through advanced procurement methods, programs, processes, and continued education. Collaborates with the Supplier Diversity team to successfully include minority business opportunities in purchasing and leads/participates in cross-functional continuous improvement project teams. 10%
What We're Looking For Must Haves:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or related discipline.
- 6 years direct work experience performing the duties and responsibilities of this position related to construction, project engineering, contract management, and project management.
- Communicate well with others- both written and verbal.
- Contract negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of business fundamentals, performs work of same or closely allied nature
- Excellent problem-solving skills and project skills.
- Ability to issue requests for quotations and issue Purchase Orders in SAP for goods and services.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Master's degree in business or related discipline.
- Gas utility experience
WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in a normal office environment with occasional extended hours during evenings based on business needs, and some travel on occasion. The successful applicant will be required to take and pass a Baseline Medical Examination as part of the pre-employment screening once an offer has been accepted. A pre-employment drug screening, as well as a background check (including education, employment, criminal and motor vehicle) will also be conducted as part of the pre-employment screening. A physical may be conducted if required for the role.
