Description Status: This is a full-time; hourly position Hours: Monday - Friday: 7am - 3:30pm; overtime as needed Benefits Offered to Full-time Employees: Health, Dental, Optical, Medical FSA/HSA, Dependent Care (FSA), Basic Life Plan, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, 401K with Company Match, Profit Sharing (ROA), PTO (Vacation), Holidays, Jury Duty, and Funeral Leave JOB SUMMARY: The Diamond Saw Operator 1 is responsible for the set up and operation of the saws along with crating / bundling and assisting on other machines as needed to meet the demand of our customers. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Load and unload saws with an overhead crane.
- Review production tickets to determine cuts that are necessary for the stone.
- Review work to ensure it meets production ticket specifications before and after cutting.
- Level and square stone on saw bed.
- Index the saw blade to the correct size and dimension based upon the stone being cut.
- Brace and wedge stone to prevent it from moving while it is being cut.
- Apply patterns and layout stone to best utilize raw stone material.
- Load pre-programmed profiles from the network and input manual cuts as needed.
- Operate saw according to layout and order specifications for both straight and angle cuts.
- Learn and train on multiple saws throughout plant
- Reattach slab labels or label each slab after cuts have been completed.
- Scan bar code on production tickets to record work performed in JDE system.
- Monitor machine operation during processing, adjusting as needed.
- Unload tables in a timely manner to meet specified process time.
- Inspect stone for general and job specific acceptance of stone tolerance, quality and appearance criteria
- Scan production ticket to record work performed in the JDE system; match ticket with correct stone when work is complete.
- Bundle finished products.
- Track and maintrain tools and supplies as needed for the job.
- Move to other machines and learn other processes throughout the plant to meet customer demand
Requirements QUALIFICATIONS:
- General computer skills.
- Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another, to avoid interruptions in production.
- Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision.
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, with an emphasis in time management, improving efficiencies and exercising independent judgment to determine work priority and urgency.
- Mechanically inclined.
- General math skills.
- Must be able to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings.
- Ability to read a tape measure, imperial and metric.
- Work as a self-motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross-train as needed.
