Johnson County Mental Health is hiring for a Vocational Counselor at their Mission Office. The successful candidate will work as part of the Adult Services Vocational Team, providing supported employment and related services to persons with severe mental illness. The Vocational Counselor works with assigned consumers to establish treatment plan goals and assist in completing action steps toward identified career goals and overall mental health recovery. This work is under the direction and supervision of the Vocational Team Leader. This position specifically provides assistance to consumers to obtain and maintain desired community jobs, and regularly approaches employers and businesses for job development, using evidence-based practices. This position is also responsible for transporting clients on a regular basis. First review of applications will begin on August 5th. Job Description
Conducts assessments of individuals' background and applicable circumstances to identify needs and/or determine service eligibility; interprets and communicates relevant information to individuals, families, and other stakeholders.
Job Requirements Minimum Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field is required. Requires KS/MO driver's license, with acceptable driving record. Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency. Preferred Job Requirements: One year of related work experience is preferred. Education/Experience Substitutions: Experience may be substituted for degree. Education may be substituted for experience. In some instances, statutory or regulatory requirements may prohibit substitution of education and/or experience.
