Essential Job Duties
Zeis Textiles Extension ( ZTE) in the Wilson College of Textiles is seeking an R&D Projects Manager for their portfolio of grant-related research projects, currently spanning more than 16 PIs, 28 projects and 5 academic institutions, the largest of which is the Textile Innovation Engine.

In this role, you'll work closely with the Interim Director of ZTE and the leadership team of the Textile Innovation Engine to manage research initiatives, support project success, and help drive innovation by:

  • Overseeing the request for proposals process to identify new projects for the Engine R&D portfolio, in collaboration with the Engine leadership team
  • Onboarding new R&D projects into the project management system
  • Meeting monthly with Principal Investigators (PIs) for all Engine and allied projects
  • Gathering all R&D reporting information from PIs
  • Supporting report writingMaintaining data for the project tracking system
  • Supporting Engine leadership in advisory board management and communications
  • Supporting Engine leadership by representing the Engine at conferences and events
  • Supporting Engine leadership by attending conferences and events and reporting on learnings and new technologies
  • Support ZTE leadership for workforce development initiatives and other special projects

Other Responsibilities

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
Master's degree in Textile Engineering, Chemistry, Textile Technology or similar discipline.
Other Required Qualifications

  • 2-5 Years of project management experience
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with researchers, industry partners, academic collaborators, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a dynamic research environment.
  • Ability to translate complex technical and research information into clear, accessible communications for a variety of audiences.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic environment experience.
  • Project management experience supporting faculty and Principal Investigators (PIs).
  • Teaching experience in a formal learning environment.
