The Senior Graphic Designer creates compelling print, digital, and multimedia communications that advance TACC's brand and communicate complex scientific and technical concepts to various audiences.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute creative concepts and visual designs for print, digital, web, social media, presentations, environmental graphics, and multimedia communications.
  • Collaborate with researchers, leadership, communications staff, and subject matter experts to translate complex scientific and technical information into clear, engaging visual communications for academic, government, and public audiences.
  • Design marketing and communications materials including brochures, annual reports, research publications, event collateral, infographics, advertisements, email graphics, presentations, and promotional assets.
  • Create graphics and visual assets for websites, social media campaigns, digital signage, email marketing, and other online communications that highlight research, innovation, and organizational impact.
  • Produce multimedia content, including motion graphics, basic animation, and graphics supporting video production when needed.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all communications while evolving visual standards that support organizational goals.
  • Develop user interface mockups, layouts, and prototypes using Figma and collaborate with web developers to support digital projects.
  • Prepare production-ready files for print and digital distribution, coordinate with vendors, review proofs, and participate in press checks as needed.
  • Organize and maintain digital design assets, templates, photography, illustrations, and project files within established asset management systems.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize competing deadlines, and communicate project status with stakeholders throughout the design process.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of professional graphic design experience producing print and digital communications.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
  • Experience designing user interfaces, digital layouts, or web assets using Figma.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in branding, typography, layout, print production, digital communications, and visual storytelling.
  • Experience designing content for social media platforms and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Knowledge of print production processes, file preparation, color management, and vendor coordination.
  • Excellent visual communication, typography, composition, and information design skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including researchers, scientists, engineers, and technical staff, communicate design rationale, and incorporate stakeholder feedback.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative creative team.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within higher education, research institutions, scientific organizations, national laboratories, or technology companies.
  • Experience developing visual communications that support scientific research, STEM education, advanced computing, artificial intelligence, data science, engineering, or related technical disciplines.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles for print and digital communications.
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS and responsive web design concepts.
  • Experience managing digital asset libraries and maintaining brand guidelines.
  • Experience working within project management systems and collaborative workflows.
  • Knowledge of UX/UI design principles and user-centered design methodologies.
  • Experience supporting conferences, scientific meetings, research publications, and outreach initiatives.
Salary Range

$68,000 + depending on qualifications
