In this role, you'll work closely with project managers, field leadership, customers, architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors throughout the preconstruction process. From conceptual budgeting and detailed estimating to proposal development and project handoff, you'll help ensure projects are positioned for success before work begins in the field.

At a Glance

Pay: $75,400-$113,000 annual salary; dependent on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.

What You'll Do

• Follow established policies and procedures related to the proposal process, including estimating and proposals; prepare proposals in a timely manner, ensuring that they align with objectives and budget targets.
• Communicate directly with owners, architects, and representatives to clarify scope, negotiate pricing, and present value-driven alternatives
• Collaborate with project managers, account managers, and field leadership to ensure estimates align with production capabilities, labor strategies, and safety considerations.
• Build and maintain strong vendor and subcontractor relationships to secure competitive pricing and reliable material availability.
• Comply with the centralized cost estimating database and following formal standard operating procedure to support cost estimating, to ensure historical data is utilized.
• Prepare cost estimates for large, complex, multi-disciplined projects at various stages of design from conceptual and budget to detailed take-off and pricing; coordinate and lead project meetings and review schedules to fully understand agreements and work scope.
• Collect and analyze project data and information, equipment drawings, schedules, submittals, material lists, specifications, and other related documents.
• Support project management during all project phases.
• Work with the preconstruction team and Commercial leadership to identify opportunities to create efficiencies, cost savings and customer value enhancements.
• Perform analysis of collected data and metrics; determine project requirements and prepare and present complex proposals to project management for approval.
• Lead management of incoming and outgoing drawings and create and maintain appropriate logs for assigned construction projects until handoff to the execution team.
• Negotiate construction prices with service providers, vendors and subcontractors for competitive proposal development; obtain multiple quotes and select the most suitable offers. Evaluate offers to purchase.
• Prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Perform risk assessments to account for potential deviation from the project plan and resolve cost discrepancies as needed.
• Work with Industrial leadership to investigate and make recommendations to review and identify opportunities to create efficiencies, cost savings and customer value enhancements.
• Develop and foster an environment of open communication, collaboration and mutual respect; support team meetings, consistent communication, reporting and feedback both within your team and with leadership. Communicate with architects, engineers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors efficiently.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• Required Qualifications
• Four-year degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field; OR a two-year degree in Mechanical Technology, CAD Drafting, or a related field PLUS a minimum of two (2) years of project-related experience; OR a minimum of five (5) years of commercial construction experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of estimating experience with a strong understanding of commercial mechanical systems, equipment, construction drawings, specifications, and techniques.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and estimating software relevant to commercial mechanical construction.
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while consistently meeting deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
• Commercial mechanical project management experience is preferred.
