About the Job

Summary of Position:

Are you a strong people leader who thrives in a fast-paced, 24/7 healthcare environment? MedStar Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Staffing Supervisor to lead the daily operations of our Staffing Office and support a team responsible for ensuring appropriate staffing coverage across the hospital.

In this role, you will oversee Staffing Coordinators, maintain the integrity of workforce scheduling and payroll systems, and ensure accurate documentation of staffing activity, absences, and attendance occurrences. You will serve as a key operational partner to nursing and hospital leadership, helping ensure the right staff are in the right place at the right time to support exceptional patient care.

Schedule:

This position supports a 24/7 hospital operation and requires rotating shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays as needed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the daily operations of the staffing office.
  • Oversees performance and job functions of staffing coordinator associates including supplemental PRN staff.
  • Oversees and maintains the information within scheduling system is accurate and makes edits as necessary.
  • Responsible for new and ongoing training for scheduling system.
  • Acts as liaison for department managers in order to assure scheduled deadlines are met.
  • Completes payroll for multiple departments. Communicates with payroll any errors changes or discrepancies regarding employee's timesheet or paycheck.
  • Ensures 24/7 coverage of the staffing office.
  • Serves as expert resource to Humans Resources Payroll and department managers regarding policies procedures and reporting systems.
  • Maintains accountability for reviewing the schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels on a proactive basis.
  • Coordinates the movement of support services personnel to other departments.
  • Provides expert guidance to Staffing Coordinators and Associates to resolve staffing conflicts or extraordinary events.
  • Evaluates and analyzes staffing patterns in accordance with standard staffing policies to determine inefficiencies and acts to correct them.
  • Communicates with Staffing Manager Senior Director and other resources as necessary for adequate staffing.
  • Knows the duties and capabilities of each category of employee.
  • Keeps Managers Directors and other resources informed of chronic absenteeism excessive sick time and habitual late offenders.

Minimal Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • At least one year of experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of staffing practices, workforce productivity, human resources functions, or related operational experience.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with payroll and/or workforce scheduling systems.
  • Previous experience overseeing or leading personnel.
  • Experience training staff on computer systems or operational workflows.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $65,062.00 - USD $117,291.00 /Yr.
