There is currently one opening for Operations & Maintenance Technician IV - Electrical located at Iron Mountain (Earp, CA).

This recruitment will be used to build an Eligibility List* for the following location(s): Eagle Mountain (Desert Center, CA); Hinds (Desert Center, CA); Iron Mountain (Earp, CA); Gene Camp (Parker Dam, CA); and Intake (Parker Dam, CA).

This eligibility list is active for 6 months from time of hire.

As an Operations & Maintenance Technician IV - Electrical, you'll apply your electrical expertise to support and maintain critical water utility and facility systems that keep communities running. In this hands-on role, you will troubleshoot, install, maintain, and repair complex electrical equipment and infrastructure while working within a team. This is an opportunity for a seasoned electrical professional to take on meaningful work, solve technical challenges, and make a direct impact in an essential industry.

What You'll Do

    Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve electrical systems associated with pumps, turbines, generators, transformers, motors, and related treatment and distribution facilities.
  • Maintain and improve electrical components and infrastructure within treatment plants, pump plants, reservoirs, hydroelectric facilities, right-of-ways, and supporting operational sites.
  • Perform preventive, and corrective, troubleshooting electrical maintenance to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted system operations.
  • Monitor electrical equipment performance using advanced diagnostic and predictive testing methods to identify and resolve potential issues proactively.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of high-voltage overhead and underground electrical distribution systems across treatment, conveyance, and distribution infrastructure.
  • Upgrade and expand electrical capacity and systems to meet evolving operational demands for water treatment, conveyance, distribution, and hydroelectric generation.
  • Ensure the ongoing reliability of critical revenue-generating assets and electrical systems.

This position is eligible to rent Metropolitan Water District housing.

The Incentive Pay program will be setup to provide a Desert Branch Assignment Premium to qualifying employees as follows:

  • 5% for all employees assigned to Gene Camp or Intake.
  • 15% for all employees assigned to Hinds Pumping Plant, Eagle Mountain, or Iron Mountain.

Schedule: 8/6; 8 Days On (Wed - Wed 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM), 6 Days Off (Thu - Tue).

Employees in this position will be required to work off-shift hours and/or stand-by service to address operational needs and emergencies as required. Pump plant personnel assigned stand-by are required to respond within 15 minutes.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: High school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalency in addition to a minimum of 6 years in an electrical maintenance position in a pump plant, treatment plant, hydroelectric or conveyance and distribution facility or similar environment.

OR

High school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalency in addition to the attainment of journey level skills through a recognized electrical trade training program.

Journey level experience as demonstrated by practical application of general and advanced techniques and practices specific to the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in treatment or pump plants, conveyance and distribution, power generation systems, and related apparatus.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver's License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.

Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:
* Valid Driver's license from state of residency equivalent to a California Class A and/or B with appropriate commercial license endorsements.
* Crane Certifications
* Forklift Certification
* Aerial lift Certification
* Chemical Responder
* MWD High Voltage Switching Certificate
