Part-Time / Event Based Compensation: $20/hr
Spirit of the Position:
The Parking / Traffic Attendant supports safe, efficient vehicle and pedestrian flow for a facility or event site. This role provides front-line customer service, manages access points, directs vehicles, processes payments/validations (as applicable), and maintains a professional presence while enforcing site rules. Key Responsibilities
- Traffic & flow control
- Direct vehicles entering/exiting lots, garages, and event drop-off zones.
- Maintain safe traffic patterns, prevent gridlock, and keep lanes/fire zones clear.
- Coordinate with supervisors/security for peak periods, incidents, or closures.
- Parking operations
- Guide guests to available spaces and manage overflow/alternate lot routing.
- Monitor reserved/ADA/employee/permit areas and address improper parking.
- Assist with queue management at entrances, pay stations, and exits.
- Customer service
- Greet patrons, answer questions, and provide clear directions to parking, venues, and exits.
- De-escalate minor conflicts and elevate issues to a supervisor when needed.
- Provide professional, helpful, and courteous experience at all times.
- Payments & equipment (site dependent)
- Collect payments, scan/validate tickets, issue receipts, and/or support mobile/QR payments.
- Operate and troubleshoot basic equipment (radios, handheld scanners, gates, cones, signs).
- Report equipment malfunctions or damage promptly.
- Safety, compliance, and reporting
- Follow posted procedures and safety protocols; wear required PPE and uniform.
- Document incidents (accidents, damage, altercations, tows, gate strikes) per policy.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area; set up/break down cones, barricades, and signage.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred, not always required).
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with the public.
- Ability to stand and work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills (if collecting payments).
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior parking, traffic control, event operations, or customer service experience.
- Familiarity with validation programs, gate systems, pay stations, or handheld devices.
Physical / Work Requirements
- Stand/walk for long durations
- Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and snow as needed.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially for events.
