Position Description The Clearing is seeking a part-time SharePoint Administrator Consultant to support a mission-critical Department of War client operating in a high-security environment. This position serves as a supplemental technical resource and backup to the project's lead SharePoint Developer. The SharePoint Administrator will provide day-to-day administration, user support, content management assistance, governance support, troubleshooting, and continuity coverage to ensure uninterrupted support of SharePoint and Microsoft 365 collaboration environments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on SharePoint professional who can independently manage routine administrative activities, support site owners and end users, maintain governance standards, troubleshoot issues, and assist with implementation activities as needed. This role requires strong customer service skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to operate effectively within a dynamic consulting environment. Work Arrangement
- This is a part-time 1099 consulting role supporting an established project team that includes specialists in SharePoint development, training and user adoption, change management, communications, and business process improvement.
- Qualified candidates must be willing to work on-site at the client location in Arlington, VA, approximately 20-30 hours per week (2-3 days a week). Hours may fluctuate based on project needs, support demands, and coverage requirements.
- The projected hourly rate for this position is between $70.00 and $115.00. Actual compensation is determined by various factors, including the candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, certifications, and clearance level.
What You'll Do
SharePoint Administration & User Support
- Provide day-to-day SharePoint Online and DoD365 administration support
- Configure and maintain site permissions, groups, document libraries, lists, metadata, and site settings
- Support site owners with routine administrative requests and troubleshooting
- Assist users with content organization, document management, search, navigation, and collaboration features
- Monitor and resolve user-reported issues and support tickets
- Support onboarding of new site owners and power users
- Serve as a backup resource for the SharePoint Developer
Content Management & Governance
- Assist with content audits, cleanup efforts, and information organization activities
- Support implementation of metadata standards, document management practices, and governance requirements
- Ensure content complies with organizational standards, records management requirements, and established governance practices
- Support site reviews and quality assurance efforts to ensure consistency across SharePoint sites
M365 & Collaboration Support
- Provide support across DoD365 tools, including SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and related collaboration platforms
- Assist with permissions management and access requests
- Support implementation and maintenance of collaboration solutions and workflows
- Help identify opportunities to improve collaboration, content management, and user experience
Project & Team Support
- Partner with the project team to support training and user adoption initiatives
- Provide technical input for training materials, user guides, FAQs, job aids, and SOPs
- Participate in client meetings, working sessions, and project team coordination activities as needed
- Provide surge support during periods of increased workload, major releases, migrations, or staff absences
- Document configurations, procedures, and support activities to ensure continuity of operations

Requirements
Required
- Active DoD Top Secret (TS) clearance (or one that has been active within the past two years)
- Bachelor's degree
- 3-7 years of hands-on Microsoft 365 and SharePoint administration and configuration experience (SP2019/SP Online)
- Experience managing:
- Site permissions and access controls
- Document libraries and lists
- Metadata and content organization
- Site configuration and administration
- User support and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with DoD365 tools, including SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Exchange Online
- Strong customer service and end-user support skills
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a business style for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Flexible, adaptive mindset with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-stakes, and often ambiguous client environments
- Willing and able to work on-site with the client in Arlington, VA
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, now and in the future, without the need for current or future visa sponsorship
Preferred
- Experience supporting SharePoint governance and records management initiatives
- Experience developing user guides, SOPs, FAQs, or training materials
- Familiarity with Power Automate, Power Apps, or workflow solutions
- Microsoft 365 or SharePoint certifications
- Experience supporting user adoption and change management efforts
