Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Materials Supervisor is responsible for completing and supervising activities around inventory accuracy, inventory availability, improvement to the quality of finished goods, shipping processes. The Materials Supervisor eliminates receiving errors to better enable customer satisfaction and on time delivery. The Materials Supervisor has overall responsibility for sourcing, contracting, planning, and supplier management for assigned suppliers. In addition to these tasks the Materials Supervisor supervises a small team of shipping and warehouse coordinators.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Hands on supervision of ATI's Shipping/Warehousing personnel: including delegating daily and weekly tasks, approving time cards and paid time off.
- Responsible for monitoring warehouse inventory and leading cycle counting activities and root cause analysis to ensure that all materials are properly verified to be reflective of reported inventory.
- Develops and recommends methods and procedures for the effective movement of inventory within the warehouse.
- Performs the weekly/monthly inventory sync process.
- Participates in team (departmental or inter-departmental) projects as needed.
- Operates in accordance with ISO procedures.
- Recommends Lean improvements within the warehouse, shipping and receiving processes.
- Responsible for ensuring freight is properly charged to customers and research discrepancies.
- Plans ATI's material purchases with assigned suppliers to prevent stock outs, maintains the ERP system and lead time information.
- Works with assigned suppliers, and maintains relationships with assigned suppliers, for materials relative to ATI's production efforts. Continuously improves material costs, quality, availability, and supply chain reliability.
- Recommends and/or utilizes standard methods for Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and Vendor Requests for Quotes (RFQs); negotiates effective and competitive supply agreements which protect the interests of Hamilton.
- Issues purchase orders to support ATI's manufacturing and engineering departments; tracks and expedites as necessary to ensure timely delivery.
- Monitors and communicates vendor performance through ATI's vendor scorecard system.
- Stays up to date on commodity prices of assigned components to better understand risks and opportunities with regards to raw material costs.
- Participates in ATI's Material Review Board to properly disposition nonconforming material and ensure the company receives all material credits/refunds.
- Reconciles P.O. and invoice/receiving discrepancies. Investigates root cause of discrepancies and recommend corrective action to avoid reoccurrence of issues and communicates with Accounts Payable on invoice resolution regarding pricing/quantity discrepancies.
- Participates in the Engineering Change Order process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills Required
- High School Diploma
- 3 or more years of purchasing and inventory control experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills: such as leading a team or leading a project.
- Demonstrated passion for Lean / Continuous Improvement or the desire to learn Lean principles.
- Customer focused and process oriented.
- Ability to learn and become proficient in Hamilton's ERP system.
- Proficient in data entry and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems by utilizing critical thinking to determine root cause and corrective action.
- Ability to effectively prioritize daily and weekly activities and discern the need to adjust priorities.
- Ability to demonstrate strong initiative and consistently perform with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate, in a positive manner, with all levels of colleagues (including sales, engineering, production, quality and engineering groups) and vendors.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience in a mechanical or electronics-based manufacturing environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Mostly sedentary work sitting up to 85% of the time, standing and walking in the manufacturing facility 15% of the time.
- Communicates verbally in-person and over the phone 80% of the time. Also, communicates regularly over e-mail.
- Visually inspects drawings to accurately order parts and examines vendor parts in-person and on the computer.
- Regularly uses the computer, performs repetitive wrist motion.
- Lifts up to 35 - 50 lbs. on occasion.
- Climbs ladders on occasion.
