What you'll be doing...

Verizon's Content Strategy and Partnerships team is responsible for connecting consumers with the content and experiences they love. The team oversees partnerships, sources opportunities, and negotiates with a broad range of content and programming entities, including major broadcast and cable companies, sports leagues, OTT/digital providers, and studios. Content serves as a key driver in consumer decision making, and the role content plays for our current and future customers is increasingly critical.

The Content Partnerships Senior Manager will oversee Verizon's Fios content activities, including programming, acquisitions, development, and strategic partnerships. They will be part of a team responsible for managing all aspects of the linear programming deals and initiatives with a focus on Broadcast portfolios (e.g. Disney/ABC, NBCU, Paramount/CBS, and Fox), as well as their retransmission consent affiliates (e.g. Nexstar, Tegna, etc.). This role will also help drive Verizon's value proposition across Mobile and Home by executing and managing direct-to-consumer distribution deals (e.g., Disney Bundle, Netflix and HBO Max Bundle, etc.) as differentiators for Verizon's core business. This role will be responsible for negotiating and securing content rights, and impact our current business by optimizing our existing deal pipeline, executing strategy around the massive consumer shift to OTT video and services. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Content Partnerships.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with content partners and the industry at large, representing the company that garners Verizon's reputation as an industry leader.

  • Leading negotiations and structuring deals with partners to secure content licensing agreements with the necessary rights to support Verizon's current and future businesses, particularly retransmission consent negotiations

  • Managing relationships and negotiations with Verizon's key content providers.

  • Partnering cross-functionally with other content platform teams to ensure the maximization of assets, top-tier content flow, and consumer/revenue growth.

What we're looking for...

  • Exceptional negotiator and communicator

  • Deep understanding of a dynamic multi-platform content market (including linear TV and distribution business models, knowledge of market trends and dynamics)

  • Deep understanding of broadcast and retransmission consent affiliates negotiations

  • Analytical rigor and uses data and analytics to drive decisions

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction, and cross-functionally as part of a larger team.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable dealing with ambiguity.

  • Accomplished dealmaker with a solid understanding of media deals, and thrives in a dynamic marketplace.

  • Track record of successfully negotiating and executing long-term agreements that created additional revenue opportunities and new customer engagement.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize eectively and rapidly evaluate deals.

You'll Need to Have

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and /or military experience, or specialized training.

  • 7-10 years of experience in programming and content acquisitions from a best-in-class cable provider and/or content programmer

  • A track record of success in partner management, business development, and deal negotiation.

Even Better If You Have

  • Master's or other advanced degree - MBA preferred.

  • Background in law.

  • Translated market knowledge and strategy into compelling stories presented to senior executives.

  • Hands-on, "roll up your sleeves" mindset, with a strong personality and ability to be a driver and change agent in an organization.

  • Proven leadership and excellent communication skills.

  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration within a matrixed organization with a diverse set of stakeholders, and able to drive results.

  • Strong people management and organization skills

  • Anticipate risks and drive risk management with a cross-functional team.

Where you'll be workingIn this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
