The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview: The Occupational Therapist screens and evaluates referred patients for OT services. Assessing, planning and implementing specific therapeutic intervention plans where indicated to restore function and facilitate development of skills essential for adaptive and productive occupational performance. Participates in performance improvement and Occupational Therapy intern clinical education programs. Provides care to all age groups in accordance with patient's age and developmental status. Qualifications: Required:
- Bachelors degree, Masters degree or Doctoral degree in occupational therapy from an AOTA accredited school of occupational therapy
- New Jersey Occupational Therapy license
- American Heart Association BLS Certification
- Successful completion of all orientation Program
Certification and Licenses Required:
- NJ Occupational Therapy License
- AHA BLS Provider Certification
Scheduling Requirements:
- Full Time
- 37.5 hours per week
Essential Functions:
- Adheres to assigned work and on call schedule and placements including but not limited to clinics, flexed hours and weekend / holiday coverage
- Advises referring physicians regarding patient orthotic needs and as indicated, provides for those needs, fabricating and / or fitting and monitoring orthotic devices
- As needed, maintains organization of department and satellite patient care and equipment areas communicating information and equipment / supply recommendations to OT Coordinator
- Collaboratively formulates discharge plans, assessing the need for therapeutic equipment and environmental adaptations and recommends / provides for same to facilitate optimal functional performance
- Documents patient care events in all applicable areas of the medical record and other designated areas according to departmental, medical center, policy and professional practice standards, including but not limited to timeliness, completeness, and accuracy
- Employs therapeutic interventions / modalities (evidence based where applicable) to achieve established goals, adhering to precautions, regulations and professional practice standards
- Formulates assessments / conclusions based on evaluation / re-evaluation, patient needs, priorities and anticipated length of stay to develop a client centered intervention plan including measurable, functional outcome goals
- Identifies and provides for patient / caregiver education and training needs regarding Occupational Therapy services, the plan of care, therapeutic interventions, equipment, orthotics, etc
- Maintains productivity to meet department standards
- Performs other duties / tasks as requested / assigned by OT Coordinator or designee
- Screens and identifies patients for Occupational Therapy services and / or other services and communicates recommendations, making referrals where applicable
- Selects and administers ev re-evaluation procedures, gathering information to assess factors that influence occupational performance
- Selects, gathers, reports, and / or enters patient care and equipment charges and other statistical data as required or assigned
- Supervises assigned Occupational Therapy interns; provides orientation and supervision, clarifies expectations, completes required evaluations and regularly confers with Student Coordinator
- Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service
- Adheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records
- Demonstrates professionalism with families, visitors, physicians, co-workers and supervisors
- Listens and communicates effectively
- Supports teamwork by cooperative problem solving through participation in meetings, projects, etc
- Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions
- Organizes work sets priorities with a minimum of supervision and seeks guidance as appropriate
- Makes decisions that are timely and consistent with department, objectives, policies and procedures
- Demonstrates sound judgment; accepts and benefits from constructive criticism
- Participates in ongoing education as required
