Job Description

Architect(s) (full-time, multiple openings) needed in Pittsburgh, PA to determine how to strategically and pragmatically approach the design and construction of projects from the proposal process through construction administration. Provide zoning and code knowledge, technical guidance, and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design issues. This includes developing and proposing multiple strategies and methods to innovatively approach the project's design, as well as conceiving various design approaches by determining the types of building systems and materials to be used on the project. Lead all project phases to drive client projects from concept through design development and then through construction documents, permitting, and construction administration. Collaborate and communicate with internal design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, vendors and regulatory agencies to resolve complex technical and design issues to meet overall project objectives. Lead pre-design tasks, including occupancy studies, zoning analyses, and stakeholder engagement to develop space programs and project goals. Once the designs are developed, prepare and produce detailed 2D/3D drawings and specifications that ensure that the client, project team and contractors can easily comprehend designs. Lead aspects of the construction administration phase of the project relevant to documentation responsibilities, including ensuring contractor compliance with construction documents and project manual, responding to substitution requests and RFI's (requests for information), reviewing shop drawings and submittals by contractor and advising on design corrections. Lead documentation coordination with full consultant teams such as structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustic, landscape, civil and other consultants. Research and specify materials appropriate for project execution to validate that they are the right materials based on performance criteria.

Must have a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field, plus two (2) years of design experience (non-intern, non-fellowship) with all of the following:

(1) Translating sketches and documents into realized 2D/3D models and images using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, 2D/3D software, including AutoCAD, Revit, Illustrator, SketchUp, InDesign, Bluebeam Revu, and Enscape;

(2) Preparing full Design Development, Schematic Design, Construction Document sets in Revit;

(3) Participating in all project phases, including conceptual designs, graphic presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents and production;

(4) Producing high quality renderings, site plans, sections, elevations and construction details for aviation, mixed-use, and master planning clients;

(5) Working knowledge of materials, construction techniques, building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures;

(6) Developing all design stages of large complex projects;

(7) Developing the schematic design of the core and shell of a building, including public spaces, vertical circulation spaces, and restrooms; AND

(8) Facade development (including product and material specifications) and system detailing.

In the alternative, we will accept a Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, Interior Design or related field, plus five (5) years of progressive post-bachelor's degree design experience (non-intern, non-fellowship). Two (2) years of the five (5) years of progressive post-bachelor's degree design experience (non-intern, non-fellowship) must include experience with all of the following:

(1) Translating sketches and documents into realized 2D/3D models and images using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, 2D/3D software, including AutoCAD, Revit, Illustrator, SketchUp, InDesign, Bluebeam Revu, and Enscape;

(2) Preparing full Design Development, Schematic Design, Construction Document sets in Revit;

(3) Participating in all project phases, including conceptual designs, graphic presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents and production;

(4) Producing high quality renderings, site plans, sections, elevations and construction details for aviation, mixed-use, and master planning clients;

(5) Working knowledge of materials, construction techniques, building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures;

(6) Developing all design stages of large complex projects;

(7) Developing the schematic design of the core and shell of a building, including public spaces, vertical circulation spaces, and restrooms; AND

(8) Facade development (including product and material specifications) and system detailing.

Must have valid Architect License. All experience may be acquired concurrently. Incidental telecommuting may apply. Standard benefits will be offered, and employees will be eligible for bonuses.

The base salary range is $90,376.00 to $102,300.00, commensurate with relevant experience.
