Assists pharmacy department with variety of vital functions including maintaining automation, performing quality improvement/data collection, evaluation/maintenance of clean room/compounding areas, oversight of daily technician roles, ensuring compliance with regulatory/accreditation standards and processing of medication orders and or medication requests from a pharmacist. This position provides organizational and technical support to ensure proper preparation of pharmaceuticals and compliance with established protocol and guidelines for pharmacy operations.

Lead Technician- Materials Management
  1. Oversees daily technician activities to ensure compliance and proper workflow according to assigned tasks.
  2. Performs daily inspections, coordinates and performs required routine cleaning activities, and performs accurate documentation.
  3. Maintains designated levels of controlled and non-controlled medications in the ADM System by regular refill as indicated by system reports.
  4. Utilizes barcode-scanning technology to deduct/restock medications
  5. Reviews system activity reports to ensure accurate filling of controlled medications in the ADM system.
  6. Ensures proper filling and maintenance of all controlled medication documentation generated through ADM and NarcStation, enabling ease of inspections.
  7. Under supervision of Registered Pharmacist, maintains appropriate level of inventory of medications packaged for the RxOBOT system.
  8. Maintains appropriate inventory control for RxOBOT system. Restocks RxOBOT as necessary by reviewing system reports.
  9. Assists pharmacy personnel in selection of medication in the event of prolonged downtime of RxOBOT system.
  10. Receives and verifies RxOBOT medication orders daily, through purchasing buyer to secure appropriate level of off and online inventory for patient care.
  11. Provides training and information to Pharmacy staff concerning RxOBOT policies and procedures. Provides education for appropriate and safe use of RxOBOT system.
  12. Checks and maintains adequate supply of medication kept in kit form, or as compounds needed for dispensing. Generates appropriate documentation and reports.
  13. Provides training and education to pharmacy and patient care staff concerning operation of ADM and floor stock procedures.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. Current registration as a Licensed Pharmacy Technician in the State of Georgia.
  2. Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) by PTCB or National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
  3. Three (3) years of experience in either hospital or advanced pharmacy role.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

  1. Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician or pharmacy training program.
  1. One (1) year as a Pharmacy Technician at Northside Hospital.
