Context, Roles & Responsibilities
Alstom does not only design and build mobility solutions, but also sets up partnerships with our customers to support their activities on long term. Services organization is dedicated to serving internal and external customers providing all solutions to maintain safe, reliable and comfortable transportation. This position applies to Asset Life Management business, covering especially the overhaul, the modernization and the repair of all kind of Railways vehicles: locomotives, street cars, metro, sub-urban trains, main line trains, automated people-movers...
Your future role
Very often the modernization is the opportunity of introducing on aging vehicles the same cutting-edge technology provided on new cars, especially in terms of Green Mobility, Passengers' experience and Cost reduction (operations, maintenance). Digital Solutions are usually part of these upgrades.Within this business, the Project Engineering Manager (PrEM) is in charge of all Engineering activities deployed during the project:
* Coordinating all Engineering activities in Alstom Services NAM, other Alstom units worldwide, and external suppliers;
* Managing the complete Engineering work-package, taking care of:
* Quality of deliverables (Q) to the end customer as per contractual requirements, especially all technical performances;
* Quality of deliverables (Q) to internal customers as per Project Plan (Sourcing, Supply Chain, Industrial...);
* Respect of the budget (C);
* Delivery on time (D);
* Risks & Opportunities related to Engineering scope.
The PrEM deals with multiple interfaces, in particular the core team of the project, the engineering community and the end customer.
Within the Engineering group the PrEM can count with the support of the leaders of the different "metiers" (mechanical design, systems, electrical, configuration, RAMS...) to provide accurate resources and manage the deliverables of their respective team.
The PrEM can be regularly supporting also bids activities, playing the role of Bid Technical Manager (BTM).
In this case he/she's responsible for:
* Coordinating the definition of the technical solution to be offered;
* Committing on the Engineering effort for the project phase (Q, C, D)
Reporting
- Reporting hierarchically to Services NAM ALM Engineering Manager, and functionally to the Projects/Bids Managers.
- Multiple functional reports (no direct report);

Educational requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related field. Equivalent education may substitute for degree.
Experience
Minimum 3 years in project engineering management experience. Prefer Railways environment: design and/or modernization of Rolling Stock.
Demonstrating management skills, strong leadership and previous exposure to customers on complex projects.
Languages:
Mandatory : English fluent
Appreciated : French
Working conditions
Up to 20% travel time in NAM region, occasionally Europe.
Compensation: $100,000-$130,000 DOE
