HDR is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services (BES) team in the Folsom or Walnut Creek, CA office. The ideal candidate should have a proven background in successfully delivering projects ranging from upfront planning and pre-design activities through detailed design and construction. This individual will be responsible for the site civil engineering design of facilities in support of a variety of markets that may include Technology, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Power, Federal, Corporate/Commercial, Education and/or Healthcare. This individual should be self-motivated, collaborative and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound engineering designs. The individual must be highly motivated and will be the site civil engineering lead on multiple multi-disciplinary projects and may be called to manage projects that have a predominantly civil engineering focus. They will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration. They will be responsible for the development of construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, as well as the review of shop drawings during construction.
In the role of Senior Site Civil Engineer, we'll count on you to:
Civil Engineer Of Record (EOR) in responsible charge of preparation of specifications and civil engineering plans for construction. Responsible for leading small project teams of civil engineers and designers and provide technical expertise and project oversight. Design and lead production for general civil engineering design on a wide variety of projects, including site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities. Prepare stormwater management designs, calculations, and reports to meet local government agency standards. Oversight on EIT and civil coordinator tasks such as Civil 3D production, engineering, and quantity calculations. Perform quality control design reviews on multidisciplinary projects from a civil perspective. Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection, and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures. Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity as needed. Plan and develop projects or design activities that have a significant impact on major company programs as needed. Plan, organize, and supervise the work of a medium to large staff of professionals and technicians as needed. Occasionally serve as a Project Manager on small to mid-sized Projects as-needed. Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering California Civil Professional Engineer (PE) license. Experience in mentoring and training Civil EITs and civil designers Experience with AutoDesk Civil 3D Project Engineering and Project Civil Lead experience Experience with Microsoft Office applications, WaterCAD, StormCAD, and other civil engineering software as appropriate. Bluebeam is also a commonly used software. Willingness to work with and lead project teams Supervisory experience In-person office culture

- A minimum of 10 years design experience managing various civil/site design projects
