McMillen, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Welder interested in assisting with all tasks involving mechanical projects, including rigging, millwright work, deckhand duties, operating, and more. This is a full-time position working out of Austin, TX. This project is anticipated to continue for 3-4 months. For candidates who prefer to focus strictly on welding, opportunities may be available between Texas and Arkansas post assignments in Austin, TX. Candidates willing to perform general construction duties may have additional opportunities

From concept to completion, projects are guided through feasibility studies, permitting, design, construction, and commissioning, ensuring technical precision and real-world functionality.


Responsibilities:



  • Assisting with all tasks involving our mechanical projects (rigging, millwright, deckhand, operating)
  • Plans and lays out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications and work orders. Makes a wide-range of welds, from simple to precision welding.
  • Determines disassembly or repair necessary, and materials to be used.
  • Works with light, heavy gauge and metals, i.e., mild steel, carbon alloy steel, aluminum and stainless steel.
  • Uses electric, oxyacetylene, gas metal arc, gas tungsten arc, and gas carbon arc welding processes to weld metal parts and structures ranging from .025 inches to very thick metal which requires multiple welding passes.
  • Devises special jigs and fixtures to hold parts to be welded.


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • One to two years of related experience and/or a combination of both.
  • Pass a drug test and background check.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • OSHA 10 Hour.
  • 1 and D1.5 certification is required but willing to certify in-house if needed.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Ability to get along and work effectively with others.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write correspondence in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to other employees of the organization in English.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Compensation Package:



  • Pay Range: $35 - $40 base wage, Prevailing Wage/Davis Bacon Wage + fringe benefits.
  • Benefits: $600 per week Per Diem if temporarily assigned 70+ miles from residence.
