From your PASSION to ours

Lactalis Midwest Yogurt, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring a Quality Engineer II based in Murfreesboro, TN. Murfreesboro is a high performing, multi-platform non-union facility with over 300 employees leading the safe, high-quality production of a wide range of dairy products. This site supports the Midwest Yogurt business across over 10 production lines. This Quality Engineer II position will be responsible for supporting Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory work at this facility.

From your EXPERTISE to ours

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Provide FSQ (Food Safety & Quality) leadership and direction through technical mastery in the areas of regulatory compliance, product quality, food safety, sanitation, ingredients, and defect handling
  • Provide functional leadership to support plant and department objectives
  • Provide leadership and plant technical support for R&D, cost-savings, reformulations, and new product start-ups
  • Develop action plans with Operations, R&D, Engineering, and FSQ teams to ensure product specifications, analytical procedures, and sampling programs are appropriate and meet system capability and key consumer requirements
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Sanitation and Engineering to continuously reduce risk within the Yoplait Murfreesboro plant and lead food safety
  • Build alignment and strategy with cross functional partners, lead risk assessments and root cause analysis activities for issue resolution.
  • Ensure the execution and compliance of all Food Safety & Regulatory Matters policies
  • Using Quality Engineering principles, collect, analyze, and interpret in-process and analytical data to make quality evaluations and recommend actions for improvement

Requirements

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

  • 2+ years of quality, food safety or related experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Food Science
  • Ability to lead constructive, positive change within a plant environment
  • Ability to build mutual respect at all levels in the organization to execute programs and achieve goals
  • Ability to lead and influence peer group/cross-functional teams and effect change/department direction
  • Clear, concise, well directed communication/ability to employ multiple communication styles
  • Ability to flex work schedule when required to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation. This includes weekend on-call support and occasional early/late work hours.
  • Understanding of product quality, sensory, sanitation and food safety
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, ability to apply engineering principles and ability to troubleshoot.
  • Ability to apply the tools of statistics, problem solving and decision making.
  • Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and bias for action
  • Ability to manage cross platform projects and be comfortable with ambiguity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of quality, food safety or related experience
  • FSPCA recognized Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI)
  • Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP) Program Certified
