UNC Hospitals Department of Audiology is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Per Diem Clinical Audiologist to provide coverage when clinical staff are out on PTO or leave. This position involves serving pediatric and adult patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings at one or more of our Audiology clinic sites.

    Summary:
    The Audiologist provides evidence-based evaluation, treatment interventions, and educational instruction to patients and caregivers for individuals with hearing impairment. The clinician provides student shadowing, clinical instruction, and participates in departmental and community continuing education and outreach.

    Responsibilities:

    • Administer basic and complex diagnostic audiologic and vestibular evaluations for patients of all ages.
    • Analyze and interpret results to establish patient goals and develop treatment plans.
    • Perform behavioral and electrophysiologic assessments of infants and young children, including: Newborn hearing screenings (NICU & outpatient settings) and Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) testing under natural sleep or sedation (in conjunction with MRI, procedures, or surgery).
    • Provide hearing aid selection, fitting, programming, and verification using real ear measures.
    • Counsel and educate patients and families regarding hearing loss, treatment options, and long-term management strategies.
    • Collaborate with otolaryngologists and other medical professionals to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
    • Participate in clinical teaching and supervision of audiology students and externs.
    • Note: This position does not involve cochlear implant programming or management.

      Education Requirements:
      * Graduation from an accredited Audiology program.
      Licensure/Certification Requirements:
      * Licensed as an Audiologist by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
      * BLS within 3 months of hire date.
      Professional Experience Requirements:
      * Audiologist experience preferred.
      Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
      * Exhibits effective communication and interprofessional skills
      * Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams to maximize patient outcomes.
