Job Summary

Information Technology Services (ITS) at the MCCCD is seeking a high-caliber Systems and Application Administrator Senior to serve as a technical cornerstone for the district-wide infrastructure, supporting over 160,000 users across all campuses and the district office. In this pivotal role, the Systems and Application Administrator Senior is responsible for the end-to-end design, integration, and management of a complex hybrid environment spanning on-premises data centers and cloud platforms.

The position requires expertise in both Windows and Linux ecosystems, as well as the agility to navigate between a command-line terminal and a physical server rack with ease. Given the scale of operations, the automation of manual processes is critical; therefore, the role requires high proficiency in writing scripts to automate workflows, manage bulk configurations, and ensure the high availability of system-wide applications.

The day-to-day responsibilities involve a sophisticated mix of strategic solution design and hands-on technical execution. The Systems and Application Administrator Senior acts as a primary escalation point for the most challenging technical hurdles, resolving complex tickets while collaborating with other IT teams to maintain enterprise-level system stability. Beyond troubleshooting, the Systems and Application Administrator Senior works closely with business stakeholders and diverse IT departments to translate organizational goals into resilient technical realities that directly support teaching and learning.

The Systems and Application Administrator Senior role requires a "future-ready" mindset, necessitating a constant pulse on emerging technologies to ensure systems evolve ahead of the district's needs and remain scalable. Whether performing critical hardware maintenance in the physical data center or designing a complex integration between disparate cloud services, the Sr Administrator's work provides the foundational infrastructure upon which the educational mission thrives.
