| Position Summary |
The Browne Lab at the
UNC
HIV Cure Center is seeking a highly motivated Research Specialist to contribute to cutting-edge studies focused on the immunology of
HIV reservoirs, mechanisms of latency reversal, and strategies for viral clearance. This position plays a key role in advancing translational and basic science research aimed at informing
HIV cure strategies.
The successful candidate will bring foundational expertise in virology, immunology, or a related biomedical field, along with the ability to independently execute and optimize experimental protocols. This individual will actively contribute to experimental design, data generation and analysis, and the interpretation of findings, while collaborating with multidisciplinary research teams. A high level of scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and initiative is essential to support innovative research and drive projects forward.
The ideal candidate will have experience with basic science models of host-pathogen interactions, infection biology, and immunological processes, and will demonstrate a strong commitment to rigorous, reproducible research in a collaborative laboratory environment. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Management Preferences |
- Experience with virology, PCR, and western blotting.
- Experience in Microbiology or Immunology.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture.
- Candidates should also have strong laboratory and analytical skills, as demonstrated by a strong track record in a research lab.
- Outstanding communication skills are essential for this position.
