Black Ink Presents is seeking a highly motivated, high energy Assistant Manager to help support a fast-growing team. The position is a hybrid position with office time, work from home, and significant travel domestically and internationally. This position is based in Denver, Colorado and reports directly to the Manager of Touring Operations and VP of Touring Operations. Black Ink Presents is a live entertainment company specializing in creative direction, design, and production management solutions for concerts, tours, special events, and immersive experiences. Black Ink has mastered the art of producing "live-to-film" experiences in which a full orchestra performs a film score live, synced with a screening of the film or other media. Live-to-film highlights include: Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Disney's The Little Mermaid, The Nightmare Before Christmas featuring original vocal cast, Rocketman with Elton John, La La Land, Whiplash, Labyrinth, Hook, The Evil Dead, Joe Hisaishi Symphonic Concert, The Goonies, and Ghostbusters.
What you'll do:
- Travel a minimum of twice a month to service Black Ink's one-off shows in a technical director role.
- Advance production details on assigned one-off and touring shows, ensuring all production information is current and accurate.
- Oversee stage, sound, lighting, and video setup, ensuring all technical elements meet the shows specifications as discussed on production advance.
- Monitor audio, lighting, and video quality during performances to provide real-time adjustments for best audience experience.
- Responsible for quality control and maintenance of Black Ink touring playback equipment, tracking its usage and advising on replacements as needed.
- Responsible for show asset tracking ensuring latest Qlab and Mainstage show files and assets are accounted for, loaded onto correct playback equipment and also stored on Black Ink server.
- Work with Manager of Touring Ops to maintain and organize show production documentation, including advance sheets, stage plots, input lists, etc.
- Coordinate travel, accommodations for Black Ink crew as needed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with venues, clients, and vendors to facilitate future collaborations and streamline the production process.
- Additional work as assigned.
Who you are:
- Minimum 3 years of previous experience in a technical role in live entertainment
- Strong knowledge of live production elements including audio, video, and lighting being able to speak the language during advances and onsite
- Positive attitude and ability to interact comfortably and effectively with other team members at all levels including Senior Management as well as external partners and clients
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including travel domestically and internationally.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Ability to keep calm under pressure, while prioritizing effectively and following through on all assignments
- Ability to work on multiple projects and produce high-quality work under tight schedules
- Passion for and knowledge of live events is a must
- Organizational skills with astute attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated, proactive, and resourceful
- Knowledge of orchestras is a plus
- Ability to maintain highly confidential information
- Proficiency in MacOS, Qlab and MainStage software is a must.
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite is a must.
- Additional software skills is a plus (Vectorworks, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Valid US Passport is a must
