About the Opportunity:

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in a high-demand aerospace manufacturing environment. This role requires advanced expertise in 480V delta power systems, industrial controls, and heavy manufacturing equipment including forge systems, heat treat furnaces, and CNC machinery.

In addition to technical responsibilities, this position plays a key role in mentoring and developing junior electricians and supporting a culture of safety, reliability, and continuous improvement across a 24/7 operation.

This position is critical to maintain operational uptime in a continuous aerospace manufacturing environment. The Journeyman Electrician not only ensures equipment reliability but also helps build the next generation of skilled electrical talent within the facility.

Location: Whitesboro, NY

Responsibilities:

Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems, including:
    • 480V delta and associated distribution systems
    • Motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, and switchgear
    • PLC-controlled equipment and automated systems
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on forge equipment, furnaces, and CNC machines
  • Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime

Equipment & Systems Support

  • Maintain and repair:
    • Heat treat and furnace control systems
    • Induction and forge equipment
    • CNC machines (Fanuc and similar controls preferred)
  • Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of new equipment
  • Assist engineering with system improvements and capital projects

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all work complies with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and company safety standards
  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and arc flash safety protocols
  • Identify and mitigate electrical hazards in a high-energy environment

Employee Development & Leadership

  • Mentor and train junior electricians and apprentices
  • Provide hands-on coaching in troubleshooting, safety, and best practices
  • Support skill development initiatives and cross-training efforts
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning

Operational Support

  • Responding to equipment failures in a fast-paced, 24/7 production environment
  • Work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure uptime
  • Accurately document work orders, repairs, and maintenance activities

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Journeyman Electrician certification and at least 5 years of industrial electrical experience - OR - in lieu of certification, at least 8 years of industrial electrical experience
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and PLC logic
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time bases without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong experience with:
  • 480V delta power distribution systems
  • Industrial automation and controls
  • Troubleshooting complex manufacturing equipment
  • Experience in aerospace or heavy manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with:
  • Fanuc or similar CNC control systems
  • Furnace and heat treat systems
  • SCADA or HMI systems
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies (thermography, vibration, etc.)
  • Experience supporting capital projects or system upgrades
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance
  • Leadership and mentoring ability
  • Effective communication across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently in a high-pressure, 24/7 environment
  • Proven experience in mentoring or training electrical personnel
  • Flexibility to cover Electrician needs across a 24x7 operation.

Working Conditions:

  • Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to:
  • High temperatures (forge and furnace areas)
  • High voltage systems
  • Noise, dust, and heavy machinery
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Use of required PPE at all times
