The Center for Environmental Farming Systems (
CEFS) seeks an Apprenticeship Program Specialist to support, strengthen and expand agricultural apprenticeship opportunities, specifically the Sustainable Vegetable Production Apprenticeship and a soon to be developed Sustainable Livestock Production Apprenticeship. This position provides direct support to apprentices enrolled in registered apprenticeship programs, leads recruitment, program administration, and site visits with apprentices and farmers. The Coordinator will serve as a consistent point of contact for all apprentices and farmers, providing guidance, troubleshooting, and resource navigation to ensure program success and compliance with ApprenticeshipNC standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead logistics, outreach, hiring, social media, and communications for multiple apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs
- Facilitate the implementation, and ongoing management of new apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs, including Livestock Apprenticeship and Pre-Apprenticeship programs.
- Serve as the primary administrator for apprentice recruitment, enrollment, and onboarding across all programs, including veteran and non-veteran apprentices.
- Mentor apprentices, be the main point of contact from the beginning of the program, answer questions, orientation and meet with apprentices regularly during the program to monitor their progress.
- Recruit host farms participating in registered apprenticeship programs, including certified organic, transitioning, and livestock operations.
- Organize and facilitate apprentice gatherings/training and educational events.
- Ensure programs remain compliant with ApprenticeshipNC.
- Serve as the primary liaison with ApprenticeshipNC and other external partners
- Support evaluation efforts across all programs.
- Coordinate the Project Advisory Team (PAT).
- Work with NC State HR and Business teams to process payments and registration.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: 10-30/hrs per week. Flexible
- Monday - Friday, weekends and evening work will regularly be required |
