Genesis10 is currently seeking a FinOps Engineer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Chandler, AZ or Irving, TX. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

We are seeking a skilled FinOps Engineer to drive financial accountability, optimize cloud spend, and improve forecasting across the technology organization. This role provides hands-on technical leadership for the FinOps function, focused on driving efficiencies, embedding cost accountability into engineering workflows, and leveraging automation and AI-assisted insights to reduce technology spend at scale. The role partners closely with Architecture, Engineering, and Finance to ensure cost is treated as a first-class operational and design consideration.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Specialty Software Engineering
  • Review and analyze complex multi-faceted, larger scale, or longer-term engineering challenges
  • Provide application-level cost visibility, allocation, and chargeback
  • Identify optimization opportunities such as rightsizing, reserved instances/savings plans, storage lifecycle, and architectural efficiencies
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, anomaly detection, and variance analysis to deliver measurable cost savings
  • Build automated guardrails, alerts, and remediation workflows
  • Integrate cost controls into engineering pipelines and operational processes
  • Create dashboards and present insights to executives and stakeholders

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, education
  • 6-10+ years of experience in cloud, platform, or infrastructure engineering
  • Hands-on experience with Azure and GCP cost management, billing models, and optimization
  • Experience managing and optimizing on-prem or hybrid infrastructure costs
  • Proven FinOps experience
  • Strong automation and engineering capabilities, including scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent)
  • AI-assisted FinOps automation experience, such as using AI-driven insights or anomaly detection
  • Experience implementing tagging, allocation, and governance standards at scale
  • Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical cost drivers into business impact

Desired skills:

  • Experience operating FinOps in large-scale or multi-cloud environments
  • Kubernetes or container cost optimization experience
  • Experience embedding cost as a non-functional requirement (NFR) in architecture and design reviews
  • Familiarity with third-party FinOps or cloud cost management platforms
  • FinOps Foundation certification or demonstrated applied FinOps maturity

Pay range: $71.88 - $79.88 per hour
