SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Clinic Program Manager and/or Administrator or Physician, and according to established procedures, provides care to patients and families. Responsible and accountable for the care provided regardless of whether it is provided solely by said nurse or if by the nurse and others under his/her supervision. Implements and coordinates the steps of the nursing process, involves the patient in decision making relative to care and is responsible for making nursing care judgements and acting upon them. Collaborates with Physicians in the management of prescribed medical plan of care. Responsible for participating in educational, quality assurance and research activities. Additionally, the Registered Nurse acts as a consultant, sharing his/her clinical expertise and knowledge with other health care providers and members of the community. Delegates, supervises and coordinates nursing care activities provided by personnel assigned to assist in the provision of nursing care, such as but not limited to Medical Assistants, Patient Service Representatives and Referral Specialists PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
EXPERIENCE: Related experience and credentials where indicated. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ambulatory patient care setting, exposed to ambulatory patient care environment which includes exposure to communicable diseases, however adherence to infection control policies and procedures minimizes chance of illness or injury. INDEPENDENT ACTION: Performs independently within the departments policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to the Clinical Program Manager when clarification of departmental policies and procedures and required.
