What to Expect

Tesla is redesigning manufacturing from the ground up-developing new factories, equipment, and processes to rapidly scale production. Data and analytics play a critical role in our ability to innovate in-house and accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.

As part of the Global Manufacturing Analytics team, you will drive analytics to solve complex challenges in process integration, root cause investigation, and overall factory optimization. You will develop data models and scalable analytics workflows that enable our manufacturing partners to effectively use data for actionable insights, maximizing yield, throughput, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

As a senior member of the team, you will help foster a data-driven culture. Your hands-on work will empower engineering and operations teams to translate vast amounts of data from a variety of sources-including equipment sensors, quality control systems, and shop floor data-into predictive solutions, ultimately leading to safer, lower-cost, and higher-performance products.

What You'll Do
  • Perform root cause analysis, correlation studies, and trial data analysis on production data, including sensor logs, time-series, and defect metrics, to improve yield, quality, and process control
  • Develop scalable statistical models and predictive analytics solutions that drive factory optimization across manufacturing lines globally
  • Design interactive dashboards and self-serve analytics tools (e.g., Grafana, Plotly) that empower engineering and operations teams to act on data independently
  • Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and software teams to define analytics requirements, integrate insights into existing workflows, and maintain data quality across globally deployed solutions
  • Prototype and productionize analytical tools in collaboration with software teams; develop documentation and training to scale data-driven decision-making across the organization
  • Embed with task force teams to provide dedicated data analytics support for targeted manufacturing challenges, accelerating root cause resolution and process improvements

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of industrial experience in manufacturing, semiconductor, automotive, pharmaceuticals, consumer electronics, or related high-volume production environments
  • Strong analytical skills for exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, feature engineering, model validation, and extracting insights from diverse manufacturing datasets (e.g., time-series, sensor logs, images)
  • Experience with Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control, hypothesis testing, correlation studies, root cause analysis, and trial evaluation using tools like JMP, Minitab, R, or Python
  • Proficiency in Python or SQL, with familiarity in data analytics libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy) for modeling and ETL in industrial settings
  • Experience building dashboards and visualizations (e.g., Grafana, Plotly) to communicate findings to varied audiences
  • Strong background in statistical testing and inference (e.g., hypothesis testing, ANOVA, confidence intervals, regression analysis)
