What to Expect
Tesla's 4680 Cell Can Stamping Team is seeking a detail-oriented Tool & Die Maintenance Planner responsible for ensuring uninterrupted stamping line operations. You will manage spare parts inventory, coordinate die maintenance and scheduling, and operate the Kardex VLM system to support real-time production needs. This role serves as the central point of contact for tooling and parts availability across production, maintenance, and toolroom teams in a fast-paced, high-efficiency environment.

What You'll Do
  • Maintain lineside spare parts inventory by managing min/max levels, replenishment triggers, and cycle counts, ensuring alignment with system records
  • Coordinate die preventive maintenance and repair scheduling using press run data and maintenance inputs to prevent unplanned downtime
  • Operate the Kardex VLM as primary user-perform receiving, put-away, picking, and auditing-while maintaining an accurate inventory database
  • Track die repair work orders and follow up with toolroom and external vendors to ensure timely turnaround and clear status visibility
  • Coordinate die pull and return timing with production planners and press operators to minimize equipment downtime
  • Maintain an up-to-date, shop-floor-visible die status board and report weekly tooling and spare parts availability metrics
  • Escalate parts shortages, tooling end-of-life, and repair thresholds to engineering and communicate risks during daily production standups

What You'll Bring
  • 3 + years of experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in stamping, toolroom, or inventory coordination is preferred
  • Experience with inventory management systems; Kardex or VLM experience is a plus (training provided)
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production setting
  • Strong communication skills, command of the English Language, both written and verbal, able to deliver clear, timely updates to operators, technicians, and supervisors
  • Basic proficiency in Excel for tracking and reporting; advanced data analysis not required
  • Ability to work independently and escalate issues with appropriate urgency and context
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and 5S methodology
