The Nurse Manager is responsible for the daily planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of the daily operations and clinical practice of assigned patient care areas, in order to provide quality, individualized patient care and support of Medical Center philosophies. The Nurse Manager will lead staff to model a professional practice environment by: providing a clinically competent staff; encouraging strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication; supporting autonomy and accountability; providing staff opportunities for in- service and formal education; stressing the importance of continuous learning; and supporting a culture where concern for the patient is paramount.
The Nurse Manager supports research, participates in both long- and short-term strategic planning, and assures patient advocacy. The Nurse Manager is accountable to the Practice Manager and Director of Ambulatory Nursing Practice. This position supports additional UC Davis Health ambulatory locations

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- A valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction.
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and a Master's of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) or other related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree (in a field other than nursing) paired with MSN is accepted.
- Minimum of two (2) years' nursing management experience required.
- Minimum of five (5) year's experience direct patient care nursing experience in acute care of ambulatory.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned area
- Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice
- Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of health care technology within specialty area
- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues.
- Full command (verbal and written) of the English language.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, Title XXII, federal and state regulations
- Job requires occasional provision of direct patient care, including moving and positioning patients (with assistance as needed to ensure employee and patient safety) and assisting with multiple exams and procedures that cumulatively may last several hours at a time. Job also typically requires frequent movement throughout the clinic

- Certification of field of practice preferred (if appropriate)
- NE-BC or NEA-BC, AMB-BC, and or certification of field of practice.

Department Overview
The Nurse Manager will provide operational and clinical leadership across the UC Davis Health Rocklin, Roseville, and Auburn clinics, three high-volume outpatient clinics in the Northeast Sacramento, within the UC Davis Health Community Physician Group (CPG). These sites collectively represent a regional ambulatory care network delivering comprehensive primary and specialty care services to a diverse and growing Northern California population.
The clinics operate as part of a broader integrated academic health system that includes more than 70 outpatient locations and a nationally recognized medical center, enabling strong alignment between ambulatory services, specialty programs, and tertiary care resources.
Department Specific Job Scope
Across the three sites, the department supports a multi-specialty, patient-centered care model, including:
Primary Care: Pediatrics, Family Medicine and Internal Medicine
Specialty Services: Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Cardiology, Neurology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Urology, Orthopedics, and more
Care Delivery Model: Team-based care integrating physicians, advanced practice providers, AN IIs, RNs, LVNs, and medical assistants
This structure enables continuity of care, reduced fragmentation, and improved patient access, while also introducing complexity in staffing, throughput, and coordination.
This position supports the Rocklin Clinic and has clinical oversight of two community clinics in Auburn and Roseville. Travel is expected between the three locations.

Work Environment
