Position Title: Phlebotomist II

Work Location: 1401 Harrodsburg Road, B-195, Lexington, KY 40504

Work Arrangement: Onsite (PSC Setting)

Assignment Duration: 3 months (Contract to Possible Hire)

Work Schedule: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM (Monday-Friday, Full-Time)


Position Summary

The Phlebotomist II is responsible for performing advanced blood collection procedures, specimen processing, and patient interaction in a high-volume Patient Service Center (PSC). This role requires strong venipuncture expertise, the ability to work independently during closing hours, and experience handling diverse patient populations (pediatrics to geriatrics). The position supports extended operating hours and demands efficiency, adaptability, and excellent patient care in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary draws on patients across all age groups (newborn to elderly)
  • Handle high patient volume (~150 patients/day at site level)
  • Process specimens, including labeling, handling, and preparing for transport
  • Conduct specialized collections such as drug screens and paternity testing
  • Ensure accurate patient identification and documentation
  • Manage workflow in a busy PSC environment with minimal supervision
  • Close the site independently (5:30 PM - 6:30 PM responsibilities)
  • Maintain cleanliness, stock supplies, and follow SOPs
  • Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines


Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 2+ years of phlebotomy experience required (higher than Phleb I)
  • Strong experience with difficult draws and working independently
  • Proven ability to handle high-volume environments
  • Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients required
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to stand for most of the shift
