The Clinical Pharmacist - Ambulatory Infusion Services provides clinical and operational leadership to support the launch and ongoing operation of ambulatory infusion suites. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, appropriate, and efficient use of infused medications through comprehensive order review, patient counseling, and collaboration with providers and nursing teams. The pharmacist serves as a key clinical resource, supporting therapy optimization, adherence to regulatory and quality standards, and highquality patient care.

In addition, the Clinical Pharmacist helps lead pharmacy technicians, ensures timely verification and fulfillment of infusion orders, and contributes to workflow development, policy implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position plays a critical role in building and sustaining patientcentered, compliant, and scalable ambulatory infusion services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in infusion pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, ambulatory care, or sterile compounding
  • Strong knowledge of infusion medications, biologics, and supportive therapies
  • Experience supporting or launching ambulatory infusion suites or outpatient infusion centers
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience with pharmacy technicians
  • Board Certification (e.g., BCPS) or ambulatory care experience
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary, patientfacing environment

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD degree from a recognized/accredited school or college of pharmacy required.
  2. License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license with Board of Pharmacy required.
  3. Experience: Previous pharmacist experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Review & Patient Care

  • Review and verify infusion therapy orders for clinical appropriateness, dosing accuracy, stability, compatibility, and payer requirements
  • Conduct patient counseling on infusion therapies, including indications, administration expectations, adverse effects, and monitoring parameters
  • Support transitions of care by coordinating therapy initiation, continuation, and discontinuation
  • Serve as a clinical resource to providers and nursing staff regarding infusion medications, protocols, and best practices

Ambulatory Infusion Suite Operations

  • Support the opening and ongoing operation of ambulatory infusion suites, including workflow design and clinical process development
  • Ensure timely and accurate verification and fulfillment of medication orders to align with scheduled infusions
  • Assist in developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and clinical protocols related to infusion services
  • Monitor and support compliance with applicable state board of pharmacy, USP <797>/<800>, and accreditation standards

Pharmacy Technician & Team Leadership

  • Provide daily clinical guidance and oversight to pharmacy technicians involved in infusion services
  • Help lead and mentor staff to ensure proper preparation, labeling, and delivery of infusion medications
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the infusion pharmacy team

Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in quality assurance activities, including medication event review and process improvement initiatives
  • Support data tracking and reporting related to infusion safety, workflow efficiency, and patient outcomes
  • Identify opportunities to optimize operational efficiency while maintaining high clinical standards

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate closely with nursing, providers, scheduling, revenue cycle, and specialty pharmacy leadership
  • Support education initiatives for internal and external stakeholders related to infusion therapies
  • Contribute clinical expertise to new therapy implementations and service line expansion

Work Environment

  • Hybrid role: Ambulatory infusion suite and pharmacy settings
  • Collaboration with interdisciplinary clinical and operational teams
  • May require occasional schedule flexibility aligned with infusion operations
