Job Title: Information Governance Engineer (Data Discovery & Remediation)
Summary
This role supports the execution of the data discovery and remediation program by improving classification accuracy and helping convert findings into actionable workflows. The position works hands-on with data discovery tools and ticketing systems to ensure results are reliable, organized, and actionable.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute and monitor data scans across priority data sources
• Support creation and tuning of classifiers to improve accuracy and reduce false positives
• Review and analyze findings (e.g., sensitive data, aged data, retention risks)
• Create and manage remediation tickets in Jira (and later ServiceNow)
• Apply consistent tagging, routing, and tracking of findings
• Support development of repeatable workflows from discovery to remediation
• Maintain basic documentation for processes and improvements
  

  Qualifications

• Experience with classifier development or tuning (regex, NER, pattern matching)
• Experience with ticketing tools (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow)
• Basic understanding of data types (structured vs. unstructured)
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Exposure to data discovery tools like BigID
• Familiarity with data governance, privacy, or security concepts
• Basic scripting or querying skills (SQL, Python, APIs)
