Job Purpose The VP, Global Medical Lead (GML) mRNA portfolio, is a key senior business leadership role, reporting to the SVP, Global Medical Vaccine Head, a member of GSK's Chief Patient Officer Team. This is a new GML role created due to Commit to Phase 3 decision in Q2 2026. The leader will have full responsibility for the Global Medical Strategy for the mRNA Flu, Covid and Combination portfolio. They will lead the translation of our science to shape the practice of medicine and deliver positive health impact for patients by providing healthcare decision-makers around the world with the evidence and confidence they need on GSK therapies/Vaccines and influencing internal stakeholders with medical insight and expertise related to Development and Commercialization strategies. The role will be accountable for the Medical strategic direction of the and the matrix leadership of the Global Asset/Vaccine Medical Leadership Team, integrating innovative strategies that support future product launches and advance patient care and help shape the practice of medicine. The role will partner with key markets to ensure that their insights are used to inform all evidence, asset/vaccine development and strategic deliverables as well as partnering across Commercial and R&D to deliver value for patients. In addition to leading the Global Asset Medical Leadership team, the incumbent will be a member of several additional matrix teams including the Medicines/Vaccine Development Team and the Medicine/Vaccine Commercial Team where they will provide Medical insight and expertise to inform and influence the integrated evidence strategy and scientific communication plans across the lifecycle to optimize patient impact within markets. A key focus of the role is to develop and stretch self and team to be best in industry at delivering impact for patients and improving patient care paradigms. The leader must exemplify GSK values and leadership behaviours. Key Responsibilities Lead both the cross-functional global medical team (GMT) and oversee global medical portfolio budget
- As convenor and chair of the GMT
- Jointly accountable with, top tier markets, for developing the global medical brand strategy and plans by convening the GMT
- Set direction along strategic framework of the medical brand plan including setting scientific objectives, own the medical scientific narrative and the integrated communication plan
- Accountable for directing and coordinating global resources to generate data and create content to support priority markets, leveraging the expertise of the Global data generation and scientific communication teams
- Represent medical as independent strategic partner in cross-functional strategy meetings and proactively offer options for innovative medical strategies
- Provide focused input at key inflection points during development (e.g., from commit to Phase 2 onwards and throughout the Lifecyle)
- As Lead of the cross-functional GMT for mRNA
- Responsible for representing the voice of the CPO organisation
- Accountable for all medical activities related to mRNA portfolio development at the global level
- Lead, coach, and mentor direct reports that support the GMT in development of medical brand strategy and plans, and execute and/or support execution of global tactics
- Address broader holistic disease area considerations as they arise by convening other relevant GMLs ad-hoc
- Play an active role within TA to articulate and implement a single, unified medical strategy across portfolio
Enterprise Leadership:
- Maximize the positive impact for patients and GSK from early development to maturity (defined as no further significant clinical evidence generation potential).
- Act as a partner to the Vaccine Development Lead and Vaccine Commercialisation Lead, ensure integrated and thoughtful insights from across a diverse stakeholder set to contribute to shaping the medicines/vaccine's vision, development strategy and clinical development in the early phases of development, as well as for refining medical strategy as clinical evidence is generated.
- Ensure that medical insights from the priority markets are incorporated into the GMT to inform all evidence, product development, and asset strategy deliverables.
- Accountable for leading the GMT in the development and delivery of the Global medical product strategy and associated global deliverables enabling prioritized LOCs to execute the strategy and deliver positive patient impact locally.
- Ensure that the data generation plan aligns to identified unmet needs and prioritized evidence gaps and addresses key medical and market access requirements, maximizing the asset competitiveness from launch through lifecycle management for priority markets
- Lead a global matrix team that executes on generation of evidence, publication plans and creation of content to support the priority markets to shape the practice of medicine and differentiate our medicines and vaccines.
- Act as medical Launch lead, partnering with cross-functional partners and priority markets to ensure timely and ambitious launches
- Input into the cross-functional team, in partnership with the VDL and VCL for the development of ambitious LCI plans
- Lead regular assessment of medical plan impact utilizing the medical impact framework, ensuring plan reviews and proactive communication of impact measures to key stakeholders as required
- Oversee asset budget to ensure that resources are deployed against the highest the highest impact tactics
- Ensure that Global deliverables are produced on time based on market needs
- Use a Global mindset, incorporating local perspectives, to strategy development and decision making. Partner with priority markets to understand their needs and balance options to achieve the set-out goals.

Qualifications Essential
- MD/MBBS/PharmD or PhD in clinical / scientific discipline related to medicine/pharmacology
- Experience in a global medical affairs role leading a launch asset
- Experience in a medical affairs leadership role in country; either as a Country Medical Director in a smaller market or a Therapy Area Lead in a larger market
- Clinical development experience
- Experience supporting an indication as part of a cross functional team including creation of a competitive and accessible TPP
- Experience in medical support for briefing documents for regulatory interactions and payor dossiers
- General understanding of statistics, safety, regulatory requirements
Preferred
- Strong preference for prior US experience
- Strong demonstration of strategic and medical leadership and scientific agility
- Track record of building and maintaining a deep and continued connection to medical practice and healthcare delivery
- Experience of launching medicines or vaccines either at global or local level
- Examples of curiosity and agility with the ability to pivot to new areas of focus, assimilate information rapidly and identify critical questions that will drive decision-making and planning
- Skilled at simultaneous consideration of scientific data and practical healthcare delivery needs from diverse health systems to optimise medical implementation of innovation.
- Evidence of innovative digital and AI leadership within prior medical roles
- Collaborative matrix management skills with a focus on leading diverse groups (e.g., cultural, geographical, functional) to achieve excellent results in shared goals.
- Strong listening, communication & collaborative team working and leadership skills, as the role involves interface with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally. Examples of where cross-functional collaboration and ability to influence various stakeholders across different levels in the matrix organisation has been harnessed.
- Demonstrated deep relationships and interaction with external experts (physicians) in the therapeutic area - requiring a high level of medical knowledge/experience, understanding of patient management, and strong clinical judgement on benefit- risk significance
- Impactful communication and influencing skills with the ability to distil complexity down to what matters most to our stakeholders.

* If you are based in Cambridge, MA; Waltham, MA; Rockville, MD; or San Francisco, CA, the annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges $297,000 to $495,000.
The US salary ranges take into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate's skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role. Available benefits include health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
