$49.75 - $55.15 Wheatfield - RMSGS 4x4 Reporting to Norman Henderson In order to be an eligible bidder, employees must have successfully passed Station Operator pre-entry school. Per the terms of the CBA, Station Operator vacancies will be offered first to those in OLOP by seniority. Once those employees within OLOP have been exhausted, the Company will offer the vacancy to the senior employee who has previously passed pre-entry School. If no employee who has passed pre-entry school accepts the vacancy, the Company will go back up the bidder list to offer the vacancy by seniority to those employees who have not passed pre-entry school. If employee accepts, they will be slotted into the next scheduled school. Employees must successfully pass pre-entry school before reporting to the job. Job requires than an employee must have successfully passed a fit test within the last twelve (12) months. If not, the employee will be fit tested prior to reporting. Job Title: Station Operator Job Code: NP219 Job Summary The Station Operator will be hired to operate, inspect, service, and maintain steam generators, turbines, auxiliary equipment, boilers, breakers, switchgear, transformers, cooling towers and other related equipment. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate, inspect, service and maintain bottom ash and fly ash disposal equipment, station heating equipment, condensate system, feedwater system, turbine oil system, turbine room vent fans and heat exchanger systems.
- Operate, inspect, service and maintain ash sluice pumps, bearing cooling water pumps, air compressors and rotating screens.
- Assist in the starting, operating and shutting down of boiler feed pumps, circulating water pumps, service water pumps, and generator cooling systems.
- Assist in the starting, operating and stopping of turbine/generators, positive and /or negative pressure steam generators, and auxiliary systems.
- Test intercept valves, stop valves, overs peed and other safety devices
- Operate turbo generator steam sealing systems and air ejectors.
- Observe conditions of station equipment; report or rectify abnormal conditions as the necessity occurs; locate and correct minor difficulties such as fuse replacement.
- Service, inspect and troubleshoot boilers, precipitators, service water systems, boiler air fans, cooling towers, fire protection systems and other generating station systems.
- Perform electric yard and station switching; clear and tag equipment
- Inspect the gas metering/regulating station and industrial gas supply stations
- Lubricates and maintains auxiliary equipment as required and reports needed repairs to supervision; makes minor mechanical adjustments such as: adjust low pressure valve packing, unplug hoppers, clinker grinders and feeders.
- Assist the Control Room Operator in performing Hold Card activities.
- Initiate work requests as required.
- Take reasonable care of Company tools and equipment assigned to him during working hour
- Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
- Direct and instruct employees assigned to work with him; assist in the training of other employees
- Perform similar or less skilled work in this classification or, when the diversity of work load requires, perform similar or less skilled work in equal or lower classifications.
- Perform duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules and operating regulations and practices.
- Complete any reports and forms used in connection with the performance of duties and provide pertinent information of equipment status to the operator's relief.
Required Qualifications for Position
- Successfully complete formal schools as required at the Training Center.
- Have a working knowledge of the operation of pumps, compressors, ash disposal, turbines, generators, boilers, electrical systems and communication systems of the Company.
- Have a working knowledge of hydraulic couplings, feed water heaters, dampers, turbine oil systems and generator cooling systems.
- Have a thorough working knowledge of the piping and valves used in the work area.
- Demonstrate knowledge of plant systems by having completed all applicable check-offs.
- Successfully pass the applicable qualification tests.
